Sleep in until 7, kids!

The celebration continues in Annapolis, MD two days after the Midshipman defeated the Fighting Irish 46-44 in triple overtime. Navy is so excited with their win, they gave students the day off on Monday to make merry, but within limits of course. Freshman were allowed free time from noon to 10 PM on Sunday while Upperclassman have been given "liberty" until 4 PM on Monday. Vice Admiral Jeffrey Fowler, the academy's superintendent explained the campus party by emailing,

"We are all proud of our Navy football team for beating Notre Dame in South Bend for the first time in 43 years! We are all part of history because of this victory." (source)

The team credited tough practices for their win on Saturday. And maybe the fact that the coach told his players that if they won this game, their Iraq assignments would be deferred an extra year. Nothing makes people play harder than if they are literally playing for their lives.

Congratulations to Navy on beating up on the 1-7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Because it's not like their season wasn't embaressing enough!
