Nick Saban is Desperate

Nick Saban is either crazy or desperate. Well, probably a mix of the two. The Alabama Football coach wants his team to rebound from their latest loss, a 21-14 at the hands of Louisiana-Monroe, like America has. He was quoted as saying during his weekly press conference,

"Changes in history usually occur after some kind of catastrophic event. It may be 9-11, which sort of changed the spirit of America relative to catastrophic events. Pearl Harbor kind of got us ready for World War II, or whatever, and that was a catastrophic event."

His team is currently 6-5 and in need of some motivation, but I’m not sure comparing football to Pearl Harbor is exactly the way to go. Football players need more relatable analogies, because let’s be honest, it’s not like they’re going to history class on a regular basis. Maybe compare your team to a broken down car that needs to be restored to its former glory.

Don’t get it twisted, Saban was not comparing football with a national tragedy, he more like comparing his players with people experiencing a national tragedy. There’s a major difference according to football spokesman Jeff Purington,
"What Coach Saban said did not correlate losing a football game with tragedy;
everyone needs to understand that. He was not equating losing football games to
those catastrophic events. The message was that true spirit and unity become
evident in the most difficult of times. Those were two tremendous examples that
everyone can identify with."
Whatever you say buddy. Alabama is gearing up to play its rival #25 Auburn this weekend.
