I'm 62 years old and I can play better

NASCAR Update:
Drew Blickensderfer the crew chief for the No. 17 car driven by Matt Kenseth in the Busch Series was fined $10,000 for exceeding the alloted right rear quarter panel height. Kenseth was penalized 25 driver points and Roush Fenway was penalized 25 owner points. The violation happened in at Phoenix.

Jerry Gappens was named the Executive Vice President and General Manager of the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Mark Martin is looking to qualify for 26 races in 2008.

In case you were wondering, Jimmie Johnson does not feel bad for teammate and friend Jeff Gordon for his fade in the Nextel Cup points after leading most of the year.

This weekend will mark not only the end of the 2007 season, but also the final time a #25 car will race for Hendrick Motorsports and the final time Chevy will use its Monte Carlo SS. (via jayski)

Football Update:
ESPN is reporting Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney will be out for the rest of the season with his foot injury. Of course they said Eli would miss a month with his shoulder injury and he played the next week against the Packers so we'll take this with a grain of salt.

Luckily for the Colts, Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson will be out for their Sunday match up.

The Panthers are confident that at least one of their four QBs will be able to suit up on Sunday so they dropped Drew Olson, who was elevated from the practice squad last week.

QB news: Kyle Boller will be taking over for Steve McNair at the helm of the Baltimore Ravens...J.P. Losman will be starting for the Buffalo Bills this weekend.

Popo in my crib News:
Browns conerback Leigh Bodden won't have to worry about having his trial interfer with his playing time after it was announced he won't have to go to court until after the Super Bowl. Bodden is facing charges of being verbally abusive with the popo at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. If convicted he faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. Watch out Leigh, because the popo are on your tail!

Braves Update:
Glavine watch 2007 is officially in effect. Glavine's agent Gregg Clifton is meeting with the Braves to talk money.

News & Notes: Congratulations to C.C. Sabathia on winning the 2007 AL Cy Young Award...The Minnesota Twins acquired outfielder Craig Monroe from the Cubs for a player to be named later...The Yankees have offered Mariano Rivera $45 million over three years. Ok, I'll take it...Things got a little worse for Ryan Zimmerman who underwent a second wrist surgery after breaking it taking batting practice. Zimmerman was experiencing numbness in his finger tips...Those new to the blog may not know my love for Aaron Rowand, but those long time readers will recognize him as my favorite non-Brave. Last season I was actually able to get a picture with him during Phillies Picture Day and was a little upset thinking Aaron may not be back in a Phillies uni for 2008. It's still a long shot, but apparently he's not adverse to coming back. But he's going to want the big pay check, $84 million over six years. So starting writing that check Pat...Kevin Youkilis shaved off his beard for charity. Gillette donated $5,000 to Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids. Check out the picture here...With a 101-86 win over the Pacers, the Boston Celtics are 6-0...Pat Riley is not happy with the way his team is playing telling reporters he could play better after their 91-76 loss to the Charlotte Bobcats...In mercy rule not in effect news, Lipscomb beat Fisk 123-22, one point off of the 102 point-victory NCAA record.

UPDATE: Apparently, I missed Sean Avery. Click here for his interview.

It's been fun blogging with you,
