Fans buy a football Club

An English Football Club will be forced to listen to public opinion after an internet-based group of fans pooled their money together to buy Ebbsfleet United of Kent. The fans, MyFootballClub, agreed to buy 51% of the team at more than $1.5 million and will act as a united front in making decisions on the club.

"This is a brand new concept, basically a massive trust. They will help run it; they will feel part of it," Roland Edwards, a directorand club secretary of Ebbsfleet said.

MyFootballClub, which has over 20,000 members and charges an annual fee of $72 per person, will hold internet polls to conduct day-to-day business. The team will even take suggestions in the form of emails from concerned stake holders. But their voices will limited, former manager and current head coach Liam Daish along with the players are the only people who will make decision during the game.

"There will be a lot of dialogue and the head coach will respond leading up to the games."

Fans will be able to keep tabs on their team around the world as games will be broadcast on the internet and then those fans will probably email the team the next day to complain about the coaching or player performance.

The plan, hatched by Will Brooks who created the website in April, will either be the greatest thing or one of the worst decisions ever made. I listen to enough talk radio to know a lot of people think they know how to run a professional team but would probably just run them into the ground.

Ebbsfleet is in the fifth tier of English Soccer called the Football Conference.
