Baby it's cold outside

NASCAR Update:
Jimmie Johnson dashes into Phoenix this weekend with a 30 point lead over his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon and only two races to pull off his second straight Championship. While Johnson is winless at this track, Gordon has one win coming in the spring race this year. It's down to two with two to go so check out the Checker Auto Parts 500 on Sunday at 3 PM/est on ABC.

It's official, Sam Hornish, Jr. will be making a full time leap to Nascar in 2008.

Elliott Sadler is predicting great things for his Gillett Evernham Motorsports #19 Dodge in 2008 and it's thanks to his new team director Rodney Childers.

Meanwhile, Sadler and Kasey Kahne's new teammate Patrick Carpentier takes over the #10 ride this weekend in Phoenix.

Football Update:
The Browns will be without nine-time pro-bowler Ruben Brown for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury that will require surgery.

The Vikings have docked wide reciever Troy Williamson one week's pay for missing last Sunday's game to attend his grandmother's funeral. The Vikings pointed to other players who were able to play days after their loved ones had died as the reason why they were ok with docking him. Of course being heartless on the field is a good thing, being so off the field will usually get you a visit from the popo. Williamson will have 45 days to appeal this case.

Terrell Owens was docked $10,000 by the league for using a personalized towel during his touchdown celebration. Apparently the towel violated league uniform and equipment rules.

Even at 6-2 some Tennessee Titans would like to have Pacman Jones back with the team when he is reinstated by the league.

Reggie Bush has fired marketing agent Miek Ornstein most likely because he's upset his isn't in as many commericals as Peyton Manning. Aren't we all, Reggie.

The Giants will be taking on NFC rivals the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. This is the second meeting of the two teams. The firts, at Dallas, was an offensive onslaught with the Cowboys walking away with the 45-35 win. This time the Giants deffense looks to prove its stregth with the roar of the East Rutherford, NJ crowd cheering them on. Catch all the action at 4:15 PM/est on FOX.

Oklahoma State has suspended linebacker Chris Collins, Jr. for the rest of the season after he pleaded guilty to felony agrravated sexual assault. Collins plea stems from the assault of a 12 year old girl in 2004. At the time of the incident he was 17. He will be sentenced on December 10th. Suspended for the year? How about kicking him off the team! Watch out Chris, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: #6 West Viriginia survived a late game comeback from Louisville with a 38-31 win...Louisville has sued Duke for breach of contract after the Devils opted out of the final three games of their four game series. In the first game played between these two teams, Louisville killed the Duke 40-3. I wonder why they opted out of the other three games...David Stern is warning the city of Seattle to get their act together. If the Sonics go, they will not receive another NBA team...The Bulls have finally won a game this season with their 97-93 win over the Pistons...It's official, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are Devils no more. They'll now just be called the Rays or that other crappy Florida team...A new report says 11 free-agents were asked to meet with the Mitchell Investigation commission...The MLB Players' Union is calling foul with this year's GM meetings...The GMs have decided first and third base coaches will wear heed protectors sometimes called helmets in 2008 as a reaction to Mike Coolbaughs death over the summer. Of course he died when he was hit in the neck, but it's still a good move...Hall of Fame manager/umpire and executive candidates have been announced...The Rangers, helped by crazy man Sean Avery, defeated the Peguins 4-2...The Toronto Maple Leafs are the most valuable team in the NHL according to Forbes...Taylor Twellman's Matrix like move propelled the New England Revolution to its third MLS championship game. So if you substitute the Revolution for the Bruins you've got four major teams kicking ass up in Boston...Czech tennis player Jan Hernych said he was approached in Russia and asked to lose the first round in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Hernych is currently ranked 165th.
