It doesn't count until January

NASCAR Update:
Jimmie Johnson took the win in the Dickies 500 and the points lead on Sunday after making a late race pass on Matt Kenseth to give Johnson his first career victory at Texas. The race was marred by cautions including four in the first 39 laps. Jeff Gordon, who had been leading the points coming into Sunday, finished seventh after a relatively consistent day. The top 12 was filled with chasers including Johnson, Kenseth, Martin Truex, Jr., Kyle Busch, Jeff Burton, Gordon, Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart.
Race Results Points Standings

Scott Riggs finished his time in a Gillett Evernham Motorsports car with a 13th place finish. He'll be replaced by Patrick Carpentier beginning in Phoenix this weekend. Riggs' teammate Elliott Sadler finished 12th.

Rumors are flying that Roger Penske will announce Sam Hornish, Jr. as the third Nextel Cup driver for his Penske South Division at Phoenix this week. That's a great idea, the kid can't even make a race, let's make him a full time driver in Nascar. Sam should hang out with Travis Kvapil and Brendan Gaughan before going along with this. Congratulations to Carl Edwards on clinching the 2007 Busch Series Title.

But thanks in part to Edwards and last year's winner Kevin Harvick, Nascar is looking to prevent Cup dominance in their second tier series in the future.

Football Update:
On Sunday, the New England Patroits were able to complete 14 point comeback in the final 8 minutes to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 24-20. For once a game lived up to the hype.

It's been fun blogging with you,
