Wind Gusts

Baseball Update:
Randy Johnson is expected to make his first spring training start for the Diamondbacks on Monday. Johnson has not pitched in a game since June 28, 2007.

After leaving early with a groin injury in the Braves 9-6 loss to the Tigers, Mike Hampton is hoping he'll be able to make his next scheduled start. For more Braves news head over to our new Braves Blog.

Josh Beckett was unable to make his scheduled start after suffering back spasms during his warmup.

Another Red Sox pitcher, Barolo Colon is expected to pitch on Thursday.

Good news bad news for the Phillies, pitcher Adam Eaton has a small herniated disk in his back.

It looks like Nomar at third unless the Dodgers trade for a third baseman (Brandon Inge perhaps) after Andy LaRoche went down with a torn ligament in his right thumb. He is scheduled to have surgery and will miss eight to 10 weeks.

Gary Sheffield missed his third straight game for the Tigers with leg cramps.

The A's are deciding whether they should bring third baseman Eric Chavez to Japan for their season opener against the Boston Red Sox or whether he should stay in the US and rehab.

The Rangers signed Sidney Ponson to a minor league contract.

John Maine pitched four hitless innings while the Met bullpen allowed only three more hits in their 3-0 win over the Astros.

Not to be outdone by his crosstown rival, Phil Hughes tossed a four inning no-hitter for the Yankees in their 6-4 win over the Twins.

In other Yankees news, Manager Joe Girardi is not happy with the Tampa Bay Devil-less Rays hard play during spring training after back-up catcher Francisco Cervelli broke his wrist in a play at the plate during the Devil-less Rays 4-1 win. Don Zimmer on the other hand is totally fine with it.

Despite winning the MVP in 2007 and helping his team win their first division title since 1993, Jimmy Rollins is still unsatisfied.

Nascar Update:
Following Kyle Busch's historic win at Atlanta on Sunday, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. had something to say about the less than satisfactory tires they were running on all day.

With his ninth place finish, Brian Vickers has locked himself into the sixth race of the season, a huge feat for his 83 Red Bull Toyota.

In dumb ideas floating through ESPN's Nascar coverage news, ESPN had offered to set up a polygraph test for Jack Roush to prove they did not intentially allow the oil cap lid to become loose. Jack Roush rejected the idea. Seriously is "Moment of Truth" not terrible enough?

Sad news, Kittie Allison mother of Bobby and Donnie Allison has died. She was 101.
