Winner: Kyle Busch
Recap: It took over 50 years to happen, but a foreign manufacturer has found its way into a Nascar Cup Series Victory Lane after Kyle Busch took the checkers in Atlanta in his #18 Snickers Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. Early on, the race looked to be all Dale Earnhardt, Jr.'s who paced the first 59 laps opening a lead as large as 6 seconds before succumbing to Busch. From that point, it seemed Kyle never looked back leading 8 times for a total of 176 laps. The race marked Busch's first victory in the Cup Series this season and allowed him to retain the points lead in the series.
Shout-outs: To Joe Gibbs Racing for giving Toyota its first Cup Series win and for its one-two finish. Including Denny Hamling, JGR was able to place all of its cars within the top 15. Besting JGR, Richard Childress Racing had another great day placing all three of its cars in the top 10 including a team best sixth place finish by Clint Bowyer.
Disappointments: Following back-to-back wins, Carl Edwards made an early exit with engine troubles finishing 42nd two spots behind his Roush Fenway Racing teammate Jamie McMurray. You can't help but wonder what could have been for McMurray if he would have stayed in the 42 at Chip Ganassi Racing. His tenure at Roush Fenway thus far has been pretty lack luster and with this being his third year with the team, you'd have to think McMurray is on the hot seat.
Next Race: Sunday, Food City 500 @ Bristol Motor Speedway
