More upset people

Baseball Update:
Add Mets pitcher John Maine and Baltimore Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis to the list of pissed off players after their respective teams renewed their contracts.

But he's not the only one unhappy with their teams unilateral renewals.

Jonathan Papelbon is working hard to get a deal hammered out before the Red Sox Thursday deadline to renew all players.

The Cardinals signed Adam Wainwright to a one year deal that could earn him $438,000 if he makes the majors and $246,000 if goes to the minors. They also signed their remaining unsigned members of their roster.

There is a lot of movement on the Brewers team sending ROY Ryan Braun to left and Bill Hall to his fourth position in three years.

After giving up 12 walks during his spring training start, it was announced that Noah Lowry has tendinitis in his left wrist and will miss at least three or four days.

Francisco Liriano threw 40 pitches during batting practice on Tuesday. It's a huge step for the Twins ace who missed all of 2007 recovering from elbow surgery.

Good news, Hank Blalock, his wife and three year old son are ok following a Tuesday traffic accident. Blalock's car was stopped at an intersection when they were rammed from behind.

The Yankees tossed five perfect innings in their rain shortened 2-0 win over the Blue Jays.

The state-backed sports agency, Illinois Sports Facilities Authority that wants to acquire Wrigley Field will likely make a formal offer to the Tribune Company for the ballpark in the next two weeks. The threat of selling naming rights sure gets the ball rolling a lot faster, huh?

The Dominican Republic is demanding to be the site of the World Baseball Classic and will pull its national team if it is not named the host.

Nascar Update:
Carl Edwards and his 99 team are still waiting to hear their fate. But according to Edwards the oil lid incident wasn't intentional. "If we were trying to cheat, we would have come up with something a lot better than that."

Clint Bowyer and Martin Truex, Jr. topped the speed charts on the first day of testing at Phoenix.

Nascar has denied Texas Motor Speedway's request to have a test session held before April 6th's race date. Goodness, you forced them into a second race at your track, shouldn't you quit while you're ahead?

Jeff Gordon makes a funny. Click here for his version of "who's on first."

Jim Aust who is responsible for getting Toyota into Nascar has announced his retirement.

Popo in my crib News:
A Boston Red Sox scout has some explaining to do after two teenage girls saw Jesse Levis engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior in his Port St. Lucie hotel room. The two girls were in the swimming pool below when they same him. The Red Sox are looking into the situation, but we're guessing that Jesse will have the all the free time he needs to perform his community service because he probably won't have a job with the Sox. Watch out Jesse, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: Sidney Crosby scored a goal in the Peguins 2-0 win over the Lightning. It was Crosby's first game back since suffering a severe ankle sprain 6 1/2 weeks ago. I bet Evgeni Malkin must be upset he has to share his rising star with the kid...The Avalanche won their fourth straight beating the Canucks 2-1. The game marked the debut of Peter Forsberg...The Rangers and Islanders practically had to clear their benches for the late game shoot-out, but in the end the Islanders' Jeff Tambellini was able to make the final score in the sixth round of the shoot-out to give the Isles a 4-3 win...On the same day that Brett Favre made his retirement announcement, 13 year veteran Warren Sap officially ended his career...Javon Walker has signed a six year, $55 million contract with the Oakland Raiders only a few days after being cut by the Denver Broncos...Oklahoma City has approved a sales tax extension to fund renovations to a downtown arena in hopes of luring a NBA team...The Warriors made it rain all over the Hawks topping them 135-118...Sam Cassell passed a physical and officially signed with the Boston Celtics but will be unable to play in the C's game against the Pistons on Wednesday...UNC rolled over Florida State 90-77 as they get ready to take on Duke on Saturday. Say goodbye to your number one ranking Carolina!...Even though she can't play a pro game because of that pesky drug ban, Martina Hingis will take the court in an exhibition match in Liverpool in June. Well the girl still has bills she's gotta pay.

Check this out: So yesterday Brett Favre announced his retirement and everybody is putting together posts about his legacy, greatest moments, best quotes, whatever. So here are photos of Favre through the years. Here are some of his top moments. Here's forum of the fan's favorite moments. And here is Geoff Jenkins reaction to the news.

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
