How Sweet it is to be Love by You

Sorry for the late post and lack of posting today, but the job that actually pays me money called and I had a lot of stuff to get done. So here is the best of yesterday and today.

Baseball Update:
The A's were able to even up the short series with the Red Sox in Japan on Tuesday with a 5-1 win.

The Blue Jays are close to a six year extension to keep Alex Rios in Toronto. The deal could guarantee him $65 million.

When they lose an outfielder they're fine because they have a bunch of quality players, but the Angels losing Kelvim Escobar could be another story.

Former Brave Chris Reitsma has been cut from the Mariners squad and has reportedly left camp.

In other Mariners pitching news, it's safe to safe this spring training has not gone Erik Bedard's way, giving up 35 hits in 24 innings and raking up a 8.63 ERA. But don't worry, he'll still be Seattle's Opening Day starter. Oh and he picked up the win in his final spring training start, a 8-5 victory over the Royals.

If you look at Dontrelle Willis numbers while in Florida the trend was going in the wrong direction so is it really a surprise that he's been struggling since being traded to Detroit, an American League team? Willis allowed seven runs, six earned and eight hits in just three innings of work during the Tigers 7-4 loss to the Pirates. I don't think the Tigers saw this coming, but then again it's only spring.

Masumi Kuwata has retired at the age of 39. He spent his first major league season in Pittsburgh last year, but has stacked up legendary figures while playing in Japan.

More Minor League send downs including Texas Rangers catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Red Sox outfielder Brandon Moss and hard throwing Reds pitcher Homer Bailey.

So the one time Arod chooses not to open his mouth maybe the only time people actually want to listen. Oh Magglio Ordonez's statement was hardly a not guilty plea. Not that means much.

TBS has announced their new broadcasters for this year's upcoming season. Braves fans will notice the familiar voice of Chip Caray who has been calling games for TBS. He'll be joined in the booth by either Ron Darling and Buck Martinez who will alternate games. I for sure will miss hearing the rare Chip and Skip combo and even Joe Simpson and long gone Don Sutton, but it's a brand new world out there, huh?

Finally, mark your calendars, National Baseball Card Day is March 29th. Click here for more info.

Nascar Update:
It's getting worse for Robby Gordon. After having his 100 point penalty rescinded by an appeals board, Gordon now has to deal with a law suit. Vanguard Integrity Professionals is suing Gordon for $1.15 million over a dispute stemming from the cancelled Dakar Rally. Vanguard is ordering Gordon to cease wearing any logos on his Nascar uniforms and equipment. I get the whole lawsuit thing, but by having Gordon wear your logos, isn't that almost like free PR? You should sue him for $1.15 million and make him wear your logos for FREE!

Toyota pulled a huge uh-oh after returning a part to Roush Fenway Racing that was found in Toyota's possession. Currently the Japanese auto manufacturer is staying mum on how said part found its way over the Toyota camp.

Speaking of Toyota, BAM Racing has announced it will start using Toyota engines supplied by Bill Davis Racing.

Mike Wallace's daughter Chrissy will be making her Truck Series debut this weekend.

Hendrick Motorsports is hoping to get its first victory of the year at Martinsville this weekend.

Popo in my crib News:
So the next time you want to voice your displeasure with a certain athlete, use your voice not your water bottle after Roland Flores plead guilty to misdemeanor counts of using force and voilence to assualt Mike Piazza and was sentenced to 30 days in jail along with 3 years parole and barred owning or possessing a fire arm for 10 years. He was also ordered to stay away from Angel Stadium for three years. Mr. Flores threw a water bottle at Mike Piazza on July 25, 2007 while sitting in the front row near the on-deck circle. Watch out Roland, because the popo are on your tail!
