Brett Favre retires 4 Realz

A new era will start in Green Bay this season after 17 year veteran quarterback Brett Favre announced his retirement on Tuesday. Stating the he is "just tired mentally," Favre told ESPN's Chris Mortensen in a voice mail message that the only way he could be successful is if he won a Super Bowl and the odds of that happening are stacked against the Packers.

In a way, this could actually be beneficial for the Packers whose season ended in the NFC Championship game this season. It will allow them to move onto the next chapter in the storied franchise's history but with momentum from the past season.

It will be odd not to see the #4 in a Packers jersey, but after years of will he or won't he, it is probably a great time for him to gallop off into the sunset.
