Kevin Johnson for Mayor

What do you do after you've completed a successful career in the NBA? How about run for Mayor. That's just what former All-Star Kevin Johnson is doing after announcing he's throwing his hat into the ring in Sacramento. Johnson has spent much of his retired life engaging in urban renewal projects through his foundation St. HOPE in his hometown and now has decided he help bring about change to the slumping city.

Johnson will be taking on three-term incumbent Mayor Heather Fargo. But she doesn’t seem too worried, “I think the voters will find more credibility and progress in my record than his."

During her time in office, the city has fallen into a deep housing collapse which could threaten projects such as the redevelopment of K Street.

Can athletes be any worse than career politicians?

It’s been fun blogging with you,
