Goody's Cool Orange 500

Winner: Denny Hamlin

Recap: The beating and banging seemed to start from the drop of the green flag, but when the dust finally settled it was a Virginia native in Victory Lane, Denny Hamlin. Hendrick Motorsports, much like Joe Gibbs Racing two weeks ago at Bristol did everything but win, making a statement that they are not a team to take lightly. Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson all took turns running from the point, but in the end, Hamlin proved too strong capturing his first ever grandfather clock on Sunday in front of his home state fans.

Shout Outs: Hendrick Motorsports proved you shouldn't count them out, after all the team has six championships and four Daytona 500 wins between four drivers. And even though they were unable to get a win this weekend, they did bring in all four cars in the top seven. Shout outs also go out to Elliott Sadler who was nursing an injured back and was still able to keep his nose clean and bring home a 15th place finish. Not an easy task on a track that is so demanding even on a healthy driver.

Disappointments: After an impressive finish at Bristol two weeks ago, Aric Amorola seemed to hit everything but the pace car before exiting the race with engine issues on Sunday. He ended up finishing 42, 121 laps down.

Next Race: Sunday, April 6th @ Texas Motor Speedway

It's been fun blogging with you,
