Don't hold your breath

Baseball Update:
With every passing day, it's looking more and more likely that Josh Beckett will be unable to make his opening day start in Japan due his back problems. Well maybe he and Eric Chavez can play cards while their teams compete in Japan.

Beckett's Boston teammate Jonathan Papelbon is looking to add the slider into his arsenal. I'm totally ok with this as long as it doesn't hurt his slutter.

The St. Louis Cardinals depleted pitching staff suffered a set back with Joel Pinero still out with shoulder soreness. Didn't they have the same problem last year?

But in good news for the Cards, pitcher Chris Carpenter was able to throw off the mound for the first time on Tuesday after undergoing Tommy John surgery in July.

Pedro Martinez had his final warmup on Tuesday before making his next start scheduled for Saturday.

Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain are acting like a bunch of kids. Of course at the age of 23, kids is still the proper term to describe the two Giants up and coming aces.

The Rangers third baseman Travis Metcalf will be out for six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn left hamstring. Goodness that sounds painful.

Nomar Garciaparra's bad wrist will keep him out of the lineup for the Dodgers trip to China. Seriously, some one needs a third baseman. Hmm...I wonder who you could pick up...

It felt like old times when 80 year old Tommy Lasorda took over managing duties for the Dodgers while Joe Torre and crew head over to China for some exhibition games. In the second inning Tommy was tossed for arguing a call in the 7-6 loss to the Marlins.

I guess you can say thank goodness its only spring training becuase both the Padres Jake Peavy and the Brewers Ben Sheets had poor outtings for their teams.

The Nationals have expressed interest in free agent pitcher Jeff Weaver.

The Toronto Blues Jays have signed relief pitcher Armando Benitez to a minor league contract.

Bud Selig makes a lot of money, like over $14.5 million a year kind of money.

Nascar Update:
Tiregate 2008 rolls on with Dale Jarrett backing Tony Stewart. And Goodyear deciding not to use the much complained about Atlanta tires at Texas. Good call their Goodyear, now if only made tires that didn't suck so bad. Seriously, either they are too hard, or they explode and send cars flying dangerously into the wall at high speeds, there must be some sort of medium.

And in case you're wondering, Tony Stewart is still not happy with the tire manufacturer.

Casey Mears has one big milestone to pass before hitting Bristol this weekend, his 30th birthday. Gee, and I thought I was getting old. haha

Popo in my crib News:
A physcian is being investigated by the Feds to see if he illegally prescribed medication to major league baseball palyers. Ramon Scruggs' name had been previously linked to players like Troy Glaus and Scott Schoeneweis. At this time, Scruggs has not been formally charged but...Watch out Ramon, becuase the popo are on your tail!

Carolina Panthers receiver Dwayne Jarrett was arrested on Tuesday and charged with DWI aftering heading to town to participate in the team's official offseason conditioning program. The popo pulled him over in the Charlotte suburb of Mint Hill after noticing his car cross the center line and run through a red light. Jarrett failed a field sobriety test before being taken to the county jail. He was later released on $1,000 bond. Well, I'd say that's a horrible way to try to turn around your on the field luck. But who knows, maybe this will be the kick in the pants the team needed to drop you. Or not...Watch out Dwayne, because the popo are on your tail!
