So Fresh and So Clean

Baseball Update:
Seems all those rumors of the team keeping what will be the old Yankee Stadium around as a museum are false. The team and the city plan on bringing in the wrecking ball to take out relic. Oh but don't worry, they'll probably auction off everything inside of it before they raze it, so get your checkbooks and credit cards ready.

Joba Chamberlain had his contract renewed by the Yankees for a league minimum salary of $390,000.

Meanwhile, the Marlins locked up Hanley Ramirez, Dan Uggla, Jermey Hermida, Matt Lindstrom, Renyel Pinto and Anibal Sanchez with contract renewals. So this like makes ARod's salary higher than the entire Marlins team, right?

The injury train has been rolling right through Port St. Lucie picking up Mets players left and right including Moises Alou who will miss the next four to six weeks after undergoing hernia surgery.

After a comeback 2007, Dimtri Young is looking quite the opposite 2008 after reporting to Nationals training camp tipping the scales at 298 pounds. Add the challenge of having diabetes to the mix and maybe will be Nick Johnson petrolling first again.

Bartolo Colon is doing pretty well at Red Sox training camp this spring and is hopeful he'll be able to grab the spot in the Red Sox rotation vacated by Curt Schilling. Don't you wish you could dream as big as Colon.

Jon Lester is continuing to improve allowing only one run in his three inning start for the Red Sox. But alas, his good deeds went unrewarded as the Sox fell 7-6 to the Reds.

Carlos Zambrano had a nice game, too bad the rest of his couldn't help him out. Zambrano not only registered three scoreless innings, but he also had a homerun in the Cubs 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.

John Smoltz had an interesting face standing in the batters box during his simulated game on Wednesday, old pal Tiger Woods. For more Braves news head over to our PIMC-Braves Blog.

With a new city to call home, Scott Rolen is hoping he can make a fresh start.

The Hall of Fame announced it will display Bonds' 756th homerun ball by Opening Day.

Good news for Bobby Murcer, after undergoing a biopsy, the Yankees broadcaster showed no signs of cancer. Instead the area of concern turned out to be scare tissue.

Nascar Update:
Wednesday was penalty day as Carl Edwards and owner Jack Roush were docked100 points and will not be able to gain the 10 bonus points for the win if the 99 makes it into the Chase come September. In addition to the lost points, crew chief Bob Osborne was fined $100,000, has been suspended for the next six weeks and will be on probabtion until December 31st. The penalty stems from Sunday's race in Las Vegas when it was discovered during post race inspection that the team did not secure the oil lid properly. The resulting penalty has dropped Edwards from first to eighth in the points standings.

The National Stock Car Racing Commission has allowed the points taken away from Robby Gordon's #7 car be reinstated after hearing an appeal from the team. They did, however increase his fine from $100,000 to $150,000. The reinstated points moved his team from 37th to 21st in points, safely within the top 35 barrier. The penalties resulted from an unapproved bump cover Gordon had on his car during pre-race inspections at Daytona.

Vegas is vowing it will fix the wall where Jeff Gordon suffered a hard crash last Sunday. Good thing because when you piss Jeff Gordon and Rick Hendrick off, you're totally screwed.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is liking his chances at Atlanta this weekend.
