Winner: Kasey Kahne
Recap: Pole sitter Kasey Kahne went from first to worst back to first all in a matter of 200 laps on Sunday to take the Pocono 500. Kahne’s team decided to take two tires instead of four but forgot to mention it to the front tire changer who almost lost a hand while attempting to take off the lug nuts on the right front. Kasey had to drive back down pit lane to when it was discovered three lugs were not tight and restarted in the back. But a fast car and some great pit strategy got the #9 in front where he was able to hold off a charging #11 driven by Denny Hamlin to get his third win in four weeks. Points leader Kyle Busch’s early race troubles and last place finish scrunched the points back up a bit.

Shout Outs: Red Bull Racing. Not only did Brian Vickers finish in second, but A.J. Allemdinger had a solid day finishing in 12th. Kurt Busch’s team also deserves praise for rallying from a early race spin, repairing the front end of the car and finishing in 8th.
Disappointments: Kyle Busch’s over eagerness early in the race cost his team big time handing them a last place finish. Similar over aggressiveness hurt the Clint Bowyer’s #07 car and had Juan Pablo Montoya flaming mad. I will complement both drivers on taking blame for both crashes though they did screw not only their teams but also the #26 and #42 respectively.
Next Race: Lifelock 400 at Michigan
It’s been fun blogging with you,
