Lifelock 400

Winner: Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Recap: Dale Earnhardt, Jr. needed a little bit of strategy and whole lot of luck to capture his first win in over 2 years, but the gamble paid off giving Junior his first win since moving over to Hendrick Motorsports and Hendrick just his second win of the season. The #88 team was able to stretch their fuel 55 laps even after Sam Hornish, Jr. spun forcing the race into Nascar’s version of overtime. Patrick Carpentier spun in the bonus laps handing Junior the win. Kasey Kahne finished second, continuing his hot streak since his win at the All-Star Challenge.

Shout outs: It’s hard not to herald a team and a driver that had not won in 76 races, but my shout out has to go to Roush Fenway Racing which saw four of its five cars finish in the top 10. Greg Biffle, the outcast of the race, finished 20th.

Disappointments: It’s hard to say a 13th place finish is a disappointment, especially while he currently maintains the points lead, but Kyle Busch’s jaunts around the country are certainly hurting his finishes on Sundays. Last week it was a 43rd, this week a 13th. I understand that you can’t win every race, but maybe he should think about cutting back on his extra circulars, just a little bit.
