Michael Strahan Retires

Dominik Hasek wasn't the only guy announcing his retirement on Monday, Michael Strahan informed teammates and the front office he would not be coming back for his 16th season with the Giants. Strahan said he wanted his teammates to know before heading to mini-camp on Wednesday. Mikey spent 15 seasons with Big Blue amassing 141 1/2 sacks which included his record setting 2001 season where he broke the single season sack record with 22 1/2.

I kind of figured that he would be announcing his retirement before the start of this season especially considering the fact that the Giants won the Super Bowl and that he missed all of the preseason while deciding whether he wanted to come back for the 2007-08 season but I thought he would have done it back in February. It will be sad to not see him out on the field, but I'm pretty sure it won't be the last time we hear from him. He'd be a way better TV analyst than Tiki Barber, because at least Strahan is likeable.
