81 down, 81 to go

Baseball Update:
The Rays finish the first half of the season with a 4-3 win over the Pirates. The win combined with the Boston Red Sox 3-2 loss to the Astros pushed the Rays into first place in the AL East.

The Tigers finish off the first half of the season with a 4-3 win over the Rockies marking the first time all season they have been above .500. Unfortunately the good times hit a snag when they placed Magglio Ordonez on the DL with a pulled muscle in his right side.

The Marlins' second baseman Dan Uggla missed Sunday's game after leaving the previous night's match-up with the Diamondbacks with a sprained ankle. But his presence wasn't missed too bad as Jorge Cantu played hero in the 9th singling in Jeremy Hermida in the Fish's 4-3 victory.

Also hitting the DL is the Twins Michael Cuddyer with a finger injury. But they showed no signs of slowing down blanking the Brewers, 5-0. The Brewers activated their expensive and so far disappointing closer Eric Gagne from the DL.

Ryan Church played in his first game since being placed on the DL with a concussion on Sunday. He went 2-for-4 while pitcher Oliver Perez shined in the Mets, 3-1 win over the Yankees. The win helped the Mets avoid a home sweep by their cross borough rivals.

Bad news for the Bombers, outfielder and sometimes DH Hideki Matsui could need surgery on his ailing left knee.

In the other intercity series, the Chicago White Sox hit up the Cubs, 5-1 to complete their South Side sweep. Just one week prior, it was the Cubs bringing out the brooms at Wrigley. Oh, what a difference a week and new location can make.

It was a tough battle between to disappointing teams, but apparently San Diego is a little worse, falling to the Mariners, 9-2. The win gave Seattle the series sweep.

The Phillies are just struggling after losing to the Rangers, 5-1. Philadelphia is now just 2-8 in their last 10 games. Wow, I know Philly stuggles early, but maybe this is payback for their super hot start.

The Angels made up for Saturday's bizzare 1-0 loss to the Dodgers, with a 1-0 win of their own. John Lackey went 8.2 inning allowing just three hits and no runs while Mike Napoli's RBI single in the second inning proved to be the game winner.

The Blue Jays got a 1-0 win of their own after taking out the Braves on Sunday. Alex Rios went 2-for-4 including two doubles and the game winning RBI in the sixth. The loss marked the Braves 23rd consecutive one run road loss.

The Braves could also be without all-star third baseman Chipper Jones. Jones, who has missed more than a week with an injured quad, appears to be headed to the DL. What a blow to the injury depleted Braves that would be!

Nascar Update:
Congrats to Ron Hornaday and Tony Stewart for win the Truck and Nationwide Series races this weekend. Check back for more on Cup Series race at New Hampshire.

Speaking of Stewart, he could be eying that new opening at Hendrick Motorsports. Wait, but I thought Mark Marin was destined for the #5 ride. Oh silly season, you've confused me again.

Clint Bowyer signed a three year extension to stay at Richard Childress Racing.

Nascar could lift the testing ban. I'm on the fence about this. For those that say this will widen the gap, I can see their point, but it's not like the Hendrick and Roush drivers aren't testing at other tracks. But it still is an advantage to test on the tracks you race on.
