It's Friday the 13th, are you scared?

Baseball Update:
Make it three straight blown saves for Mets closer Billy Wagner as they fell to the Diamondbacks 5-4 (11). Wagner gave up two runs in the ninth erasing a solid start by Johan Santana. The loss did not help Manager Willie Randolph's cause who sources revealed is on thin ice.

Speaking of blown saves, the Braves let their 2-1 lead evaporate in the ninth thanks to a Jim Edmonds solo shot to tie the game. Braves reliever Jeff Ridgway hit Reed Johnson in the 11th inning to force in the winning run in the Cubs 3-2 win. Braves starter Tim Hudson was treated for dehydration following his one run, 6 2/3 inning performance.

Miguel Cabrera hit a walk-off homerun to give the Tigers a 2-1 win and a sweep of the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox are expected to release veteran catcher Esteban Loaiza prior to Friday's game against the Rockies.

Jamie Moyer took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but it was broken up by pitcher Scott Olsen. Fortunately for the Phillies, Moyer only allowed one other hit in their 3-0 blanking of the Marlins. Moyer is now 9-0 against the Fish.

Jake Peavy allowed zero runs in six innings in his first start since coming off the DL while the Padres offense provided 9 runs sealing the 9-0 victory over the Dodgers.

Mike Lowell hit his second grand slam of the season, while J.D. Drew added a long ball of his own in the Red Sox 9-2 drubbing of the Orioles.

The Twins could not take advantage of an injury plagued Indians squad falling to the Tribe, 12-2. Earlier in the day, the Indians announced all-star catcher Victor Martinez will be out at least six weeks after undergoing elbow surgery. They also put Josh Barfield on the DL with a finger sprain. Barfield was just called up on Monday.

The Twins have taken Juan Rincon off their roster and have offered him a AAA assignment in Rochester. The struggling pitcher has three days to accept or decline the offer.

Hidecki Matsui celebrated his 34th birthday with a grand slam in the Yankees 4-1 win over the A's. The win moved Andy Pettitte into a tie for fourth place on the Yankees career wins list.

The Yankees got some more news when pitcher Phil Hughes underwent an extra on his broken rib. The youngster was cleared to start throwing and manager Joe Girardi said he should be ready to go in about 6 weeks. They also announced some not so great news, reliever Jonathan Albaladejo has a stress fracture in his elbow and will miss the rest of the season.

Congratulations to Ray Durham who picked up his 2,000th career hit in the Giants 10-7 win over the Rockies.

The demolition of old Tiger Stadium could commence in the next few weeks. Is it me, or shouldn't have this been done a while ago?

Nascar Update:
Ah, Michigan. With it's wide sweeping turns and mutlilane grooves, Michigan is the perfect setting for side-by-side racing. The track is also known for its fast speeds, a tempo that suits many of the Roush drivers who have tons of success at the speedway. But so does last week's race winner Kasey Kahne who is riding a very nice string of races. Can he make it to victory lane or will Tony Stewart finally break through? It is June after all. Celebrate Father's Day this weekend by tuning in to the Lifelock 400 at 12:30 PM/est on TNT to catch all the action and see who takes the checkers.

Kyle Busch is a man on a mission, racing in all three series races this weekend. Although it should be a little easier considering two (Cup and Truck Series) races will be held at the same track while the Nationwide Series race will be only a couple state away in Kentucky.

Speaking of Kentucky, the track is looking to be near capacity for this weekend's Nationwide Series race.

Popo in my crib News:
Three Buffalo Bills players James Hardy, Steve Johnson and Christian Gaddis were all subpeonaed to testify before a grand jury regarding a hit-and-run accident involving an SUV belonging to Marshawn Lynch. At this point no charges have been filed, but let's just say things are not looking good for Mr. Lynch. Watch out boys, because the popo are on your tail!

News&Notes: The Celtics marched back in the second half to beat the Lakers, 97-91. Boston looks to wrap up the series on Sunday in LA...Reports are that the Atlanta Hawks have offered coach Mike Woodson a two year extension. The Hawks were bounced in the first round by the Celtics but were able to work the Series to seven games...Congratlutions to Alexander Ovechkin on winning the Hart Trophy (the NHL's MVP). Devils Mary Broduer (fatso as Sean Avery likes to refer to him) won the Venzina Trophy (Best Goalie) and Jason Blake won the Bill Masterton Trophy...OHL Sault Ste. Marie Coach Craig Hartsburg is rumored to be the Senators new coach...This is not exactly how I was hoping the Super Bowl champion Giants would be starting minicamp, but Sean O'Hara is not happy with the way Plaxico Burress is going about getting a contract extension and he's not afraid to say it.

Check this out: Sorry boys but it looks like another wet dream is headed down the aisle and unless you play for the Minnesota Timberwolves, your not going to be giving her that ring. People.com reports that Victoria Secret's supermodel Adriana Lima got engaged to her baskeball playing boyfriend of nine months Marko Jaric on her 27th birthday. Click here for all the details.

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
