heading back to Boston

Baseball Update:
Thursday's Update:
Red Sox 7, Indians 1
While Josh Beckett was tossing an eight inning, five hit, one run game, Kevin Youkalis was having an offensive explosion at the plate which included a homerum to put the Red Sox on the board first. The Indians tied the game at one with three hits and a run in the first inning, but once Beckett got into his grove there was very little the Tribe could do. Unfortunately fort he home team, once again C.C. Sabathia was bit of a wash out in the their loss.
WP: Josh Beckett (2-0) LP: C.C. Sabathia (0-2)
Indians lead 3-2

Saturday's Schedule
Indians @ Red Sox; 8 PM/est on FOX and ESPN Radio
Probable Starters
Red Sox: Curt Schilling (0-1)
Indians: Fausto Carmona (1-0)

Baseball Notes: If you were watching last night's game you may have noticed a little argument erupt between Josh Beckett and Kenny Lofton after Lofton dropped his bat assuming he had just taken ball four. He hadn't and then popped out to left...Trey Hillman may be coming back to America after managing in Japan for the past five years to take over the vacant spot left by Buddy Bell in Kansas City...The Nationals will keep their entire coaching staff for 2008...While Dusty Baker will keep Reds pitching coach Dick Pole.

Braves Update:
Brian McCann will not have to undergo ankle surgery, but he isn't opposed to Lasik surgery.

Torri Hunter is interested in playing CF for the Atlanta Braves...or the Washington Nationals.

NASCAR Update:
It's time for the final short track race of the season and the sixth race in the Chase. Jeff Gordon is pulling away from the rest of the field after back to back wins but with 500 grueling laps things could change in a heart beat. A small slip by a competitor could really ruin your day and this track is known to cause some mechanical troubles so this Chase is far from over. Watch the Subway 500 at 1 PM/est on ABC.

Reed Sorenson will be in the pink target car for breast cancer awareness this weekend at Martinsville.

More changes at DEI as its director of competition Steve Hmiel will be stepping down after being there for nine years.

Brad Coleman has left Joe Gibbs Racing to take a full time Busch ride for Brewco Motorsports in 2008.

Meet Michael Waltrip Racings development drivers Josh Wise and Michael McDowell here.

Popo in my crib News:
Sacramento Kings back up center Justin Williams is being investigated in connection to a sexual assault case. Charges have not been filed against Williams but he was given a indefinite leave of absence from the team. Watch out Justin, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: South Florida was a suprise #2 pick for the first BCS poll but they wont be there for long after losing to Rutgers 30-27 on Thursday...Stanford has suspended Brook Lopez indefintitely for violating team rules. This reminds me of a kid from Penn State. I wonder what illegal activity Brookie was involved in...After dumping their coach, the Atlanta Thrashers have finally won a gam! A 5-3 over the Rangers...David Beckham's return to the Galaxy netted them a tie with the New York Red Bulls. A tie, I don't think that's why they pay you $25 million a year...The Buffalo Bills are interested in playing a game across the boarder. The Canadians have football, it's called the CFL, just ask Ricky Williams if he still remembers things from last year...Denver Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker will undergo knee surgery. Thank goodness the Rockies are doing well because it totally takes away the sting of the Broncos subpar season...The Dallas Cowboys Tank Johnson will be allowed to participate in practice...Kurt Warner practiced with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday. But just in case he isn't good to go they always have newly signed Tim Hasselbeck...Meanwhile Vince Young did not test his injured quad during practice on Thursday but the team is opptimistic he will be able to play on Sunday. More like praying he'll be able to play...The Giants will be taking on the 49ers on Sunday at 1 PM/est on FOX. Big Blue will be looking to extend their current four game win streak. Let's go Big Blue!
