Baseball Update:
Sunday's Recap
Red Sox 4, Rockies 3
Boston struck first and was able to stay ahead of the Rockies thanks in part to a marvelous outting by starter Jon Lester and relievers Mike Timlin and Johnathan Papelbon. After being down 3-0 in the seventh inning, the Rockies bats came alive including Brad Hawpes' solo shot and a two-run homer by Brad Atkins in the eighth. But Bobby Keilty's long ball became the difference maker in clinching the World Series title for the Red Sox. Their second ring in four years.

Baseball Notes: Mike Lowell was named World Series MVP...Alex Rodriguez has opted out of his contract with the Yankees...And was able to let the word slip during game 4 of the World Series but was unable to attend the pregame ceremony to collect his Hank Aaron Award from Hank Aaron...But Prince Fielder was...Recently retired Houston Astro Craig Biggio picked up the Roberto Clemente Award...A report states the Yankees may decide on their new manager on Monday and announce it on Tuesday...In steriod news, Bud Selig says he doubts he'll see the Mitchell Report before it's released...And Hank Aaron admitted that the steriod talk kept him away from the Bonds homerun chase...The front office may not be talking with Torri Hunter but that hasn't stopped manager Ron Gardenhire from voicing his opinion, he'd like to have Hunter back for 2008...Former Braves 2B, Marcus Giles was released from the San Diego Padres.

NASCAR Update:
Chad Knaus was able to pick the right pit strategy to give Jimmie Johnson and the #48 Lowe's team the win at the Pep Boys Auto 500 atAtlanta Motor Speedway and close the gap between themselves and their Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon to just 11 points. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. lost a tire to end the race under caustion after Nascar had already done one green/white checkered flag. Between the engine failures and parts failures, Junior must be ready for this season and his time with DEI to be over.
Race Results Points Standings

Jimmie Johnson's race winnings will be given to the American Red Cross to help those in Southern California effected by the Wildfires. Johnson is from El Cajon, CA.

Nascar is investigating why Denny Hamlin and Dave Blaney had water in their fuel cells during the race at Atlanta this weekend. Greg Biffle also may have had the same problem.

Steve Hmiel has signed with Ganassi Racing after leaving DEI earlier this month. Hmiel will serve as their manager of competition.

The Nationwide Series plans to race the COT in 2009. Good, let's ruin all the racing in Nascar!

Popo in my crib News:
37 fans were arrested following the Red Sox win over the Rockies on Sunday. "An unruly crowd flipped a pickup truck to its side near Fenway Park and at least one car fire was reported. Young people sprayed each other with beer and some climbed street signs or utility poles." Watch out merry cheerers, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: It was a messy game in London for the Giants, but they were able to pull off a 13-10 win over the Miami Dolphins to extend their win streak to six games...This weekend's game against the Colts and Patriots will be a battle of the undefeated after the Colts beat the Panthers 31-7 and the Patriots beat the Redskins 52-7...The Chargers were able to play in their own stadium and pick a win over the Texans 35-10...Ohio State stays #1 in the BSC and AP Polls...UCONN continues to roll after beating USF 22-15 on Saturday...Roger Federer clinched the year end #1 spot...Phil Jackson called out Kobe Bryant questioning his committment to the team. Why are the Lakers so behind on the Kobe news?
