The Braves have scheduled at press conference for 3:30 today to announce the resignation of long time GM John Schuerholz. Schuerholz has been with the team for 17 years including a stretch of 14 straight divisional titles, 5 World Series appearances and 1 World Series win. He will be replaced by assistant GM Frank Wren. I know sometimes we didn't agree on things, but I'll miss him!
UPDATE: ESPN is reporting that Schuerholz is stepping down as GM but will become team president. I guess we'll have to wait for the press conference.
UPDATE 2: Braves right fielder Jeff Francoeur told reporters that he didn't hear about the news until a few hours before it was announced but said, "He definitely deserves to retire and enjoy what he's accomplished. It's sad, because we didn't want to see him go." (source)
It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
