Tragedy in Anaheim

Brian Powers, a 27 year-old man, succumbed to injuries sustained during a fight following the Angles 3-0 defeat of the A’s at Angles Stadium on Monday night. Powers was reportedly involved in a fight with another fan when a third person entered the ring, hitting the 27 year-old in the head and knocking him to the ground. As Powers fell, he hit his head on a concrete step near a stairwell. He was rushed to UC Irvine Medical Center where he was pronounced brain dead around midnight and died at 12:23 AM.

The popo have not established a motive for the fight nor do they have any suspects. They said they are looking for two men between the ages of 25-30 with goatees. They are also reviewing the security cameras to see if they can identify either of the men involved.

This is such a sad situation. I have seen enough stupid drunk people at baseball games that get into fights either verbal or physical and I usually laugh as they get escorted out of the Stadium by the popo. (I mean just do a quick search on YouTube if you have never bared witness to such an event) But this incident reinforces how dangerous such acts can be. And why people really need to start respecting each other at sporting events. (Stepping off soapbox...)

Watch out goateed fighters, because the popo are on your tail!
