Last Call

Alcohol makes you do funny things. Like make fun of Yogi Berra and proclaim that obviously you’re a Yankee. Thanks for the update Joba, but after your police video of your DUI arrest in October found its way to the web, I think that you may start hearing way more boos than cheers the next time you come running onto the field at Yankee Stadium. I mean insulting New Yorkers, not a good call.

Of course if you were at the Blue Jays game on Tuesday, this would not have been an issue since they banned the sale of alcohol. You throw a couple of things at Josh Anderson and suddenly you get the good stuff taken away.

Fans entering Rogers Centre were greeted by a sign explaining the reasons why alcohol would not be sold on that night:

“Permitting drunkenness, permitting the use of narcotics, selling and serving to apparent minors, failure to request approved identification and permitting illegal liquor on the premises.”

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario had scheduled two other other dates banning the sale of alcohol, which includes not only the spectator’s areas but also both clubhouses, prior to Monday's game.

Upon hearing of the ban, Tigers manager Jim Leyland had this to say:

"That has no bearing on me. I don't drink beer, particularly not during the game."

Depending on how the Tiger’s season goes, that may change Jimmy. I am just saying.

UPDATE: Joba Chamberlain is attempting to make friends with New Yorkers by declaring his love for the Big Apple. Good move Joba, because otherwise you'd be in for a very long season!
