Opening Day

Baseball: The Braves kicked off the MLB season with a 4-1 win over the reigning World Series Champion Phillies...VP Joe Biden will toss out the first pitch at the Orioles/Yankees game on Monday...Note White Sox/Kansas City Royals fans, their opening day game has been postponed to Tuesday thanks to snow...The Red Sox and Rays game has also been postponed due to rain...Carlos Zambrano does not dislike Wrigley, really. He just minorly obsessed with the Cubs getting a new Stadium...The Red Sox, Cubs, and Reds sent some of their highly touted pitchers to the minors...Alex Rodriguez could be back with the Yankees by the end of April...The Mariners placed Ichiro on the DL with a bleeding Ulcer...The Mets signed Gary Sheffield thanks to a tip from David Wright...The Braves will retire Greg Maddux's number 31 in July.



Basketball: Yao Ming recorded a double double as the Rockets blasted the Blazers, 102-88 to clinch a playoff birth...The Jazz punched their ticket to the playoffs with a 108-94 victory over the Hornets...Jason Kidd passed Magic Johnson for No. 3 on the NBA's career assist list with his 14th assist in the Mavs 140-116 rout of the Suns...The Cavs moved to 37-1 at home with their 101-81 defeat of the Spurs.

College Basketball: After knocking off Uconn, Michigan State will face off against UNC, who beat Villanova, in the NCAA championship on Monday...The undefeated UCONN women's team will go up against Louisville in the women's NCAA championship...Congratulations to Oklahoma's Blake Griffin who took home the Naismith Award...Sean Miller has decided to not leave Xavier for a job at Arizona.

Football: Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen married for a second time over the weekend in Costa Rica. Although it was not all happy news for the pair, according to a French news agency, a body guard for Gisele shot at his car. Well serves him right. Maybe next time they'll just wait for the press release...The Rams have signed Kyler Boller to back-up Marc Bulger...Sad news, former Bears DL Ken Anderson died of a heart attack at the age of 33.

Hockey: The Panthers tied the Rangers for the final playoff spot in the East with their 4-2 win over the Penguins. But not before things got a little feisty...The Red Wings edged the Wild, 3-2...Rookie Kris Versteeg scored with 1:50 in OT to give the Blackhawks the 1-0 advantage over the Blue Jackets...With Kevin Weekes out, the Devils have called up Scot Clemmensen.


Nascar: Jeff Gordon snapped his longest winless streak at Texas this weekend. It was also his first win at the track...Click here for results...And here for the updated standings...Petty will field an entry in the Indy 500 for John Andretti.
