Mets literally stumble as they open CitiField

On Monday, the Mets officially opened their beautiful new CitiField. It was a night of firsts, the first homerun (a leadoff homerun by the Padres Jody Gerut), the first appearance of the homerun apple (after David Wright’s game tying homerun in the fifth), the first kitty to attempt to play baseball at the park (although luckily it appeared to be more calico in color than black), the first balk (which drove in the game winning run for the Padres in the sixth), the first Mets loss (6-5), but most memorably, the first tumble off the mound.

Thank you Mike Pelfrey for making a great night even better.

Sorry for the lousy video quality, but it was all I could find this morning. Will update when I find a better video

No more SheaStadium, huh? Some fans are gonna miss SheaStadium. I saw some good games at SheaStadium and SheaStadium sure did rock in '86!

Hmmm... something doesn't seem right.

Anyway, the new CitiField is nice. CitiField is more like a real ballpark. I look forward to going to CitiField one day.

Hmmm... something again doesn't seem right. Shea Stadium, right? And then likewise it would be Citi Field? Hmmm.....
