The Rangers are in the Playoffs

Baseball: Hold your horses kittens, the Yankess actually got a win on Thursday, the Indians, however, did not. It's early still, no need to jump off any bridges...The Giants 7-1 win over the Brewers was not without some excitement. Reliever Joe Martinez was struck in the head by a Mike Cameron line-drive that left the rookie dazied and a little bloodied, but he was able to walk back to the dugout...Chris Carptenter's first start of the season was a beauty. He and the Cardinals relieving core combined for a one-hitter, edging the Pirates, 2-1...Joey Votto rocked a three-run homerun off of Mets pitcher Oliver Perez as the Reds cruised to a 8-6 victory...The Rays hit three homeruns off of Dice-K Matsuzaka as they topped the BoSox, 4-3...The Royals, fresh off of a 2-1 victory over the ChiSox, will unveil their newly renovated Kauffman Stadium on Friday in a game against the Yankees...MLB Network is adding a roster of Saturday games to its schedule.

Basketball: The Lakers hatched a 116-102 victory over the Nuggets in Andrew Bynum's return...The Rockets routed the Kings, 115-98...Tyrus Thomas and Ben Gordon both collected 24 points as the Bulls downed the 76ers, 113-99...The news wasn't all good for the Bulls. Luol Deng will likely miss the rest of the season because of a stress fracture in his right tibia.

College Basketball: UCONN coach Jim Calhoun will stay with Connecticut next season.

Football: The NFL will unviel the 2009 schedule in prime time on April 14th...Jason Taylor is open to going back to the Miami Dolphins...Giants CEO John Marra aired his grievances about Plaxico Burress and Mayor Bloomberg for all to hear...Florida's attorney general sued a company that produced Michael Vick dog toys, saying the company never donated funds to animal shelters as promised. Oh yeah, a company that profitted off of Michael Vick's legal woes really seem like the kind of trustworthy charitable people that would donate large sums of money to help animals. HA!

Hockey: With a 2-1 defeat of the Flyers, the Rangers have clinched a playoff spot where they'll probably lose in the first round. But this is no time to ruin my playoff high...Also locking up a playoff berth were the Canadiens who got in despite a 5-4 OT loss to the Bruins...The Devils clinched the Atlantic title with a 3-2 win over the Senators...The Predators moved into a tie for the eighth spot in the West with a 4-3 SO victory over the Red Wings...Brooks Laich scored twice as the Capitals beat the Lightning 4-2 and securing their second place spot in the East...I am not sure the Islanders realize the season is still going on after falling to the Penguins, 6-1. This coming off of their embarrassing 9-0 loss to the Hurricanes. Seriously, I feel like I am watching D2: The Mighty Ducks, the part where Russ dresses in Goldberg the goalie's jersey and pads, removes his mask and starts skating towards the goal. Like if you took off the masks of the Islanders players it would reveal the high schoolers from the town over or something. But alas, they are just that bad.

Nascar: O.A.R will headline a free outdoor concert prior to Nascar's annual All-Star race.

Best of the Rest: Cinderella must have lost her slipper as Miami (Ohio) knocked off Bemidji State, 4-1 to advance to the finals of the frozen four...They'll take on Boston University who moved onto the final round after beating Vermont, 5-4.
