After falling this morning and ruining my new $30 sweater stockings, I can honestly say I'm still probably having a better day than Roger Clemens. So here's what's going on in the rest of the world of sports.
Baseball Update:
Andy Pettitte knows you don't screw around with the government, that's why he chose to tell the truth about his own HGH use saying that it was not just limited to 2002 but that he also used the growth hormones in 2004.
According to Derek Jeter, all this performance enhancing drug talk is "dissappointing."
Hey Philadelphia, does this situation seem familiar? Felipe Lopez and the Washington Nationals were the first arbitration hearing of 2008. Lopez and the Nats are only $300,000 a part in asking price, while Philly and Howard are $3 million a part.
Speaking of Philly, they have agreed to terms with Kris Benson.
The Dodgers have signed Takashi Saito to a one year, $2 million contract.
Well that was quick, the Mariners have already named their new acquisition Erik Bedard their opening day starter. Want to wait to see what happens during Spring Training?
Hey Cubs fans, according to Ryan Dempster the drought will soon be over, although I'm sure you've heard that before.
Nascar Update:
Don't forget to tune into the Gatorade Duels today at 2 PM/est on Speed. If you're at work and you forgot to dvr it, got to nascar.com for their free track pass week!
Ryan Newman paced Duels practice on Wednesday.
It was a crappy day of testing for the Hendrick Motorsports clan as Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Casey Mears and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. all had to replace their engines because of a lifter problem. Scott Riggs whose Haas CNC car uses Hendrick power also changed his engine. The problem wasn't limited to the Chevys, four Toyota enginges including that of Tony Stewart also had a similiar problem.
Wonder how competitive this year's Daytona 500 field is, two former winners, Dale Jarrett and Sterling Marlin, could be on the outside looking in.
Ray Evernham is joining ESPN's broadcast crew.
Newstand note: Motorsports are all over SI with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. gracing the cover of this week's edition and Danica Patrick modeling the latest in swimsuit fashions in this year's SI Swimsuit edition.
Popo in my crib News:
Former NFL quarterback Josh Booty got to feel the wrath of the taser on Wednesday after he was subdued by the popo. The popo told reporters "After being Tased, [Mr. Booty] was fully compliant." You think? Booty was arrested on "suspicion of drunk driving" after being pulled over on the 55 Freeway in Santa Ana. Watch out Josh, because the popo are on your tail!
News & Notes: What seemed like a foregone conclusion hit a speed bump on Wednesday when the Mavericks Devean George excerised his option to veto a trade that would have sent him, Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop and Maurice Ager to New Jersey for Malik Allen, Antoine Wright and Jason Kidd...The NBA in Europe? David Stern is thinking about it...Manu Ginobili's 46 points helped the Spurs take out the Cavs 112-105...With Kobe Bryant's finger hurting, the Lakers still were able to smother the Timberwolves 117-92...Facing his second caree recruiting violation, Kelvin Sampson's future is looking a little cloudy, wouldn't you say?...The Duke kept pace with #1 Memphis with their 77-65 win over Maryland...Speaking of Memphis, they remain undefeated after their 68-59 victory over Houston...So Pat Knight is only 899 wins behind his famous father after Texas Tech's 84-75 upset of Kansas State...After the dramatic loss of teammate Richard Zednik, you can't blame the Florida Panthers for losing in their first game since the accident, 2-1 to Montreal...The Boston Bruin's Aaron Ward was in a local hospital after injurying his neck in the Bruins 2-1 win over the Penguins...The Rangers locked up Henrik Lundquist with a six year that would net the goalie about $6.5 million.
