Black Ice

I don't know if this is a coincidence, but today, I totally whipped out slipping on a sheet of ice across the street from the train station. At least everyone had a little laugh with their morning coffee. Anyway, the last time I fell Roger Clemens had just had his day with Congress and today I land on my ass and Clemens is having an even worse day finding out that Congress is drafting a letter asking to have him investigated. And some jeweler is suing another jeweler because he ruined his sale of 2.5 carat pink diamond ring to Clemens. Well, once again at least I can say Roger is defiantly having a worse day than me! Onto the news...

Baseball Update:
Twins pithcer Francisco Liriano has finally gotten a visa and is traveling to the Twins Spring Training site in Florida.

Yesterday we mentioned on our Braves Blog that Mark DeRosa was released from the hospital on Sunday after experiencing atrail dysrhythmia. DeRosa flew back to Chicago to have tests done and may undergo an out patient procedure to fix his heart problems saying he doesn't "want to be on medicaiton for the rest of my life." We here at PIMC are sending our biggest well wishes to the former Brave and New Jersey native.

The Phillies new closer Brad Lidge underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Monday. He's expected to be out three to six weeks.

It may only be Spring Training, but the Mets were still excited to see Duaner Sanchez pitch in his first game since injuring his shoulder in a car accident in 2006.

In other Mets news, Billy Wagner's getting support from Sandy Koufax.

The Texas Rangers scratched Kevin Millwood from his first spring training start because of a right hamstring injury.

The Rockies have named Jeff Francis as their opening day starter.

Let this be a lesson to all you kids out there, alcohol hinder your career just as much as drugs. Just ask Bret Boone. In 2006, Boone abruptly retired saying he wasn't having any fun. Monday he clarified his retirement saying it was really due to his problem with alcohol.

The Detroit Tigers are so ridiculous that they are batting Pudge Rodriguez eighth. So it's no surprise that they are looking like the ones to beat in the AL Central. Sorry Indians, but they are pretty stacked.

Barry Bonds may trade one city by the bay for another after minor talks erupted in Tampa Bay. While Bonds could be a draw to the desperate Rays, they'd also have to adjust his paycheck to reflect time away to deal with his legal issues.

The Texas Rangers hired Jerry Narron as a consultant.

Hank Steinbrenner says he's planning on talking with Brian Cashman about extending his contract passed the 2008 season. Cashman, who is in his final year of his contract, should also think about a plan B, you know how fickle the baby boss can be.

Derek Jeter is looking forward to the 2009 WBC. Well good, that makes one person.

Nascar Update:
About an hour after Carl Edwards crossed the start finish line to win the Auto Club 500, the Nationwide Series got underway with Tony Stewart claiming the checkers. He's two for two in Nationwide Series races this season.

That Tony Stewart win stopped Kyle Busch from becoming the first person to lead the points in all three Nascar's top series, too bad, he'll just have to settle for leading in the Cup and Truck Series.

Put Stacey Harris on my list of people I'm totally jealous of. Haven't heard of her, that makes sense, she is just the Brand Manager of Goody's Headache Powder which only means she gets to hang out with Tony Stewart and Richard Petty. Yeah, you're totally jealous of her now too!

Getlemen, get your credit cards ready...Daytona is selling banners signed by the newest 500 winner, Ryan Newman.

Popo in my crib News:
It seems his night out with the Tush (Kim Kardashian) hindered Reggie Bush's ability to make a scheduled depostion on Monday. Bush is being sued by sports marketer Lloyd Lake for $291,000 in cash and gifts given to the running back while he was at USC. This comes after Lake and his lawyer had to leave the last depostion because one of Reggie Bush's lwayers body guards had a concealed weapon. There's one thing everyone should learn, you should not mess with the law, even if it's just a civil case, because Reggie, the popo are on your tail!

Alabama safety Rashad Johnson was arrested early Saturday morning after knocking a security guard down at Legacy bar. He was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and released on a $500 bond. Watch out Rashad, because the popo are on your tail!

News & Notes: Despite recent reports, Peter Forsberg is coming back to the NHL after agreeing to a one year, $5 million deal with the Colorado Avalanche...Sam Cassell wants out of LA, well at least out of the Clippers' LA. Cassell is seeking a buyout from the team so he could land with a contender. I get that you're old, but you signed a contract and you should stick with that team till the end of the season. These trade and buyout requests are gettin ridiculous...Jason Kidd played his first Dallas home game since leaving the team in 1996. For his efforts, the Mavs captured a 102-94 win...Kevlin Sampson still has 21 days to back out of a deal that will get him out of Bloomington for the price tag of $750,000. Under the deal, Sampson loses the right to sue the University and must participate in any NCAA investigation. I think he should take the money and run...With their win on Saturday, Tennessee is the new #1...#5 Texas took out Kansas State 74-65...Michael Straham is thinking about retirement but says he won't leave the Giants hanging through training camp like last year. Don't do it Mikey!...Dancing with the Stars was not enough of a distraction for Floyd Mayweather, Jr. because he's stepping into the WWE ring to take on Paul "Big Show" Wright as a part of "Wrestle Mania XXIV" For his troubles, Mayweather will get $20 million.
