Baseball Round-UP

Tamapa Bay dodged a bullet with their left-hander Scott Kazmir. Kazmir is expected to miss two weeks but after walking off the field with stiffness in his throwing arm, I'm sure the Rays are breathing a sigh of relief.

The Phillies have named Brett Myers as their opening day starter.

Pedro Martinez's contract with the Mets runs out at the end of the season. If the Mets want him to stick around longer, Martinez is saying the ball's in their court.

Tony LaRussa is changing up the standard batting order for the Cardinals, saying he'll bat the pitcher eighth all year long.

Good news for the Cubs, after meeting with a cardiologist, Mark DeRosa is expected to be back with the team next week.

Speaking of the Cubs, outfielder Alfonso Soriano has been very tenative in Wrigley Field because of his slight fear of the wall. I probably wouldn't want to run into a brick wall at full speed either, even if it's covered in ivy.

Omar Vizquel will miss four to six weeks after undergoing knee surgery. The 11 time gold glover will turn 41 in April.

The CEO of the Tribune Compnay which owns the rights to Wrigley Field says they're willing to sell naming rights to the historic ballpark. Honestly, there are just somethings that are not for sale, like Wrigley.

The estranged father of Brewers' first baseman Prince Fielder, is claiming that gambling was never an issue for him. C'mon Cecil, you lost $500,000 that's definately a problem.

The 2008 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox will meet with President Bush on Wednesday.

More to come...

It's been fun blogging with you,

Kate
