Add Hunter Pence to the list of baseball's wackiest injuries. The Houston Astros centerfielder will be sidelined for a week after crashing through a glass door in his Florida home. Pence claimed he walked through a the sliding door after being in a hot tub. He had left the door open but a friend must have closed it, because he just walked right through it, sending him to the emergency room for the night."It's pretty silly that this kind of freak accident happened," Pence said.
Uh-huh. Yeah, you could call it silly, or absolutely crazy. The only thing that would make this story better was that the hot tub was one of those portable inflatable ones, then this quickly enters redneck territory.
Pence arrived at Astros spring training sporting a gash on his index finger and a brace around his knees. And as you'd expect, Pence received a lot of ribbiing from his teammates. I can only imagine the nickname he's getting from this one.
