Kyle, you just got punk'd!

Baseball Update:
Sad news, former baseball GM (Reds, Cardinals and Yankees) and Denver Broncos founder Bob Howsam has died at the age of 89.

Ryan Howard will attend his first ever arbitration hearing on Wednesday, barring any last minute heroics on either side. Howard and the Phillies are at a $3 million stand-still with Howard asking for a $10 million contract while the Phils are more willing to give the 2006 MVP a $7 million deal.

Ace C.C. Sabathia has cut off talks with the Cleveland Indians calling it a distraction.

The Washington Nationals signed left hander Odalis Perez to a Minor League contract.

Vladimir Guerrero could spend part of his time with the LA Angels of Anaheim as a DH, even if the outfielder isn't too stoked about it. Thanks to the addition of Torii Hunter, the Angels have an abundance of outfielders and only three spots to put them in.

Good news for Red Sox Nation, David Ortiz arrived at camp and said he's almost fully recovered from knee surgery. I guess you can say that's bad news to the rest of the League.

When Hank Aaron speaks, I tend to listen, so when he told reporters at Braves Spring Training that baseball "is on its way to recovering from the Steriods Era," I believe it to be true. Now if only Bud Selig would start listening to the Hammer, maybe we can get passed the Mitchell Report.

Add the O's Brian Roberts and Jay Gibbons to the sorry clan after they apologized to teammates for their past indiscretions.

Congratulations to Mariners' broadcaster Dave Niehaus on becoming the 2008 winner of the Ford C. Frick Award which punched his ticket to Cooperstown.

Apparently the 2006 World Baseball Classic was such a hit that they are doing it again in 2009. The 16 participants will remain the same as 06 which include eight teams that didn't get the first round (Australia, Canada, China, Italy, Netherlands, Panama, South Africa and Taiwan) and the eight that advanced (Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Korea, the United States, Venezuela and Japan.) A qualifying round may be built into the 2013 Classic.

Could Fidel Castro's decision to step down as dictator of Cuba have a positive effect on baseball?

Nascar Update:
Sad news, the IROC series which has been pinning the best in various forms of motorsports against each other will officially close its doors. The Series is set to auction off its assets at a two-day public auction on March 7th and 8th at its Tinton Falls, NJ headquarters.

Following his Dayton 500 win, Ryan Newman's new goal is the Sprint Cup crown. Hold on there Newman, winning the Great American Race isn't exactly a sure fire guarantee to winning the Cup especially since the dawn of the Chase. But I guess his buddy Jimmie Johnson may have something to say about that.

Mark Martin will make his 700th career start at California Speedway this weekend. (jayski)

Get ready core fans, Nascar plans to target you. Forget about New York City and California, Nascar's new eye is all over the South.
