Giants fans enjoy spending money

Not only did the Giants Super Bowl victory score the largest number of viewers for any Super Bowl in history, but the Giants championship merchandise may pocket venders the most money ever. How much you ask, try a cool $125 million. Take that Super Bowl Champion Packers of 1997.

Fans were so excited with the Giants first big game victory since 1991, that a Sports Authority in Clifton reported sales totaling 1,000 on Sunday night alone. And the game didn’t end until after 10 PM! They said they had sold an additional 1,500 items by Monday afternoon.

A Dick’s Sporting Goods site in Princeton had to reopen following the underdog win. The manager reported five people standing outside its doors ready to buys some merchandise on Sunday night.

Even South Jersey fans (who tend to root for the Philadelphia teams), miraculously decided to come out of the woodwork, ready to purchase newly printed 2008 Super Bowl Championship gear that sporting good stores were happy to sell.

As for the at least 300 Patriots championship gear that Reebok made before the game, it’s being sent to Nicaragua where children don’t care that the Pats didn’t go 19-0, they’ll be excited just to get new clothes. Or if any of them have a computer or the insight to, they’ll be putting those shirts up on EBay.
