Congressional Hearing Day

Baseball Update:
The Yankees have announced Joba "the Messiah" Chamberlain will begin the season in the bullpen but is expected to enter the starting roation by the end of the season. I say keep him the pen, a good closer is harder to find than a good starter.

In other Yankees news, they are fully aware the Andy Pettitte's off the field issues will keep him behind the eight ball for most of spring training.

As I always say, don't mess with the government and it seems like former Yankee and Met Daryl Strawberry is learning this the hard way agreeing to pay more than $430,000 in back taxes, penalties and intrest to the IRS.

Very New York centric this morning, but I had to mention that the Home Run Apple will make the move from Shea Stadium to the new Citi Field home to the Mets starting in 2009. The Home Run Apple is like the only good part of Shea Stadium worth keeping, so congrats to all those fans that have been petitioning to keep the legacy of the paper mache apple alive in Queens for another 20 years!

With Curt Schilling down until atleast the All-Star break, Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz will be taking over the starting rotation duties for the Red Sox.

Kevin Mench signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers.

Finally, today is congressional hearing day for Roger Clemens. While there are very people that I lothe more than Clemens (and not because of this, but we could call this whole thing the cherry on top of my hatred) but its fair to point that he and Brian McNamee are heading to Capitol Hill to tell their side of the steriods/HGH story. While McNamee has an ally in Andy Pettitte who reportedly has corroborated his story, Clemens has Jose Conseco on his side. But I think we can all say that we hope that this is the end of the line for this story although we probably realize it will enter Barry Bonds legal territory soon if both Clemens and McNamee stay on opposite sides of the story.

Nascar Update:
While the track was quiet on Tuesday, that didn't mean Nascar officials were sitting around twiddling their thumbs, instead they placed Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch on probation for their actions during Friday's Budweiser Shoot Out practice. While Nascar starts their new 1970s Nascar is the new 2008 Nascar, they have decided to allow drivers to show some emotions as long as they don't put crew members and alike in danger, so along those lines, I say it's a good call.

Talk about beating the odds, Dale Earnhardt, Jr.'s Budweiser shoot out win was dedicated to his crew member Joey Arnold whose 4 year old son Cayden had died just eight days later. But Cayden beat the odds by living to 4. For the full story click here.

Popo in my crib News:
Here's how not to make a point, lawyers for a sports marketer who is suing New Orlean Saint Reggie Bush alledge that a bodyguard for Bush's lawyer David Cornwell "opened his jacket to expose a pistol" during a deposition on Tuesday. Honestly, you're in a court house, what is the need for a concealed weapon? Watch out bodyguard, because the popo are on your tail!
