The Florida Marlins already have a dance team, the mermaids, which consist of slender ladies who shake what their mama's gave them during home games for the team. But that's too ordinary for the Fish. In addition to the maids, they are looking for a new group of cheerleaders to get the fans going on Friday and Saturday nights. And on Sunday, they sought to compile that team of 10 overweight guys to cheer on the Marlins. The group, which was scheduled to hold auditions on Sunday, will be called the Manatees. Tryout participants were judged on their ability to dance to a choreographed routine.
But I wonder how well this new look cheerleading squad would sit with the fans. My guess, concessions will be way down on Fridays and Saturdays thanks to the loss appetite due to a set of 10 Jared’s pre subway gyrating men to the hottest top 40 jams. Or they could go way up, I mean who doesn't love to pack down some more hot dogs after they've just thrown up a couple?
