What's good for the Goose is good for the gander.

Football Update:
Congratulations go out to Tom Brady who has added Offensive Player of the Year to his trophy case beating out teammate Randy Moss for the honor. Brady already picked up the MVP Award over the weekend. Shouldn't the MVP Award be the final one handed out?

Injury Report: The Jaguars are hopeful defensive tackle John Henderson and safety Reggie Nelson will be able to play against New England this weekend. Especially since linebacker Mike Peterson will not be able to play, missing his eighth straight game with a broken hand.

It was a day of retiring/quitting/resigning as Jim Bates has resigned as defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos, Hardy Nickerson quit his post as linebackers coach for the Bears and Bills offesnive line coach Jim McNally retired. Not to mention Joe Gibbs retirement reported in yesterday's post.

The Dolphins still need a head coach, but they do have a quarterbacks coach after hiring David Lee who was at Mississippi.

The 49ers have hired Mike Martz as their offensive coordinator. Martz was fired from his Lions' post last week.

The Falcons are reportedly going after USC head coach Pete Carroll to fill their vacant head coaching job.

Cleveland Browns rookie LT Joe Thomas was named to the Pro Bowl replacing Jason Peters.

Sad news, Former Chicago Bears coach Jim Dooley has died. He was 77.

Draft Update: Rutgers' Ray Rice will test the NFL draft waters...Tennessee will need to find a new linebacker after Jerod Mayo decided to enter the draft...Michigan could be lighter by three if Mario Manningham, Adrian Arrington and Ryan Mallett decide to skip their senior years...Meanwhile 5 Missouri players including Chase Daniel and Chase Coffman have decided to stay...Along with Washington State's Brandon Gibson and Cal's Alex Mack. (I wonder if can turn into liquid.)

Baseball Update:
Congratulations to Rich "Goose" Gossage on making it into the Hall of Fame. Gossage was the only player to receive the mandatory 75% vote. Jim Rice was the next closest missing an induction by just 16 votes.

The Colorado Rockies have signed former Brave Marcus Giles to a minor league contract.

The Mariners have signed Miguel Cairo to a one year deal.

The Texas Rangers are close to signing reliever Eddie Guardado. Guardado underwent reconstructive elbow surgery in September 2006.

Braves Notes:
The Braves are getting excited for this weekend's FanFest, including John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, Chipper Jones, Jeff Francoeur, Brian McCann and Mark Teixeira. Click here for more information.

Tom Glavine, who was scheduled to take the ice with the Atlanta Thrashers on Monday, was unable to attend due to illness. Glavine was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 1984, the same year he was drafted by the Braves.
