34 year win streak snapped for Florida High School

The last time Brandon High School lost a wrestling match, Richard Nixon was still in the White House and the Godfather was winning a Best Picture Oscar. 34 years later South Dade High School finally ended Brandon's unbeaten streak in the finals of the Jim Graves "Beat the Streak" tournament.
"We broke that history," South Dade senior Tico Baez told the St. Petersburg
Times. "Even the guys that weren't supposed to win, they overcame their fears
and won the match."

Brandon's hot streak began when an untested coach, Jim Graves, took over the team in 1973. Over the course of 34 years, Brandon had picked up 66 individual state championships and 18 team titles.
