Dodgertown to become populated by Orioles?

50 years ago Walter O'Malley ruined by poor family's life by uprooting theier beloved Brooklyn Dodgers and bringing them to Los Angeles. Since then, my family’s baseball beliefs have splinted to include fanhood in the Yankees, Mets, Phillies and Braves.

One thing remained constant over the course of those 50 years, the team’s spring training facility in Vero Beach, FL. The team had moved there in 1948 while the Dodgers were still playing Brooklyn.

Starting in 2009 (as long as their new facility in Glendale, AZ is ready), the Dodgers will be moving out and a new tenant is said to be taking over Dodgerville. The rumor is the team is the Baltimore Orioles who currently reside in Fort Lauderdale, although that hasn't been confirmed. All that is known is a major league team has taken an option on the facility and Orioles seem a likely fit since their lease is up in 2008 with an option for 2009.

After their spring training move the only thing linking them to the past will be LA’s Brooklyn born manager, Joe Torre.
