Multimillionaire takes his fandom to another level

Multimillionaire lawyer Ed Hansen reportedly offered the University of Washington $200,000 to fire Ty Willingham and athletic director Todd Turner. Hansen had emailed the school saying:

"By this letter I hereby pledge to contribute a minimum of $100,000 towards alaw school scholarship within 90 days, conditioned upon the termination of Ty Willingham as football coach.

"In addition, I hereby pledge a second $100,000 towards a law school scholarship within 90 days, conditioned upon the termination of Todd Turner as athletic director.

"Also, I do not intend to contribute any further funds to the athletic department as long as these two gentlemen are employed by the university."

Hansen earned his money as the founder of Frontier Bank and currently holds $7 million in stock of said bank.

But this wasn’t the only person willing to voice his/her opinion, The Seattle Times read through over 1,000 emails that were sent to University President Mark A. Emmert, Willingham and Turner. Of those 1,000 emails almost 750 were “critical of Willingham” and at least 100 threatened to withdraw momentary support in the form of season ticket purchase or donations unless the school fired Willingham, Turner or both men.

Willingham has lead the Huskies to 11-25 record during his three year tenure while Turner has since resigned as AD of Washington effective January 31, 2008.

It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
