If you are a former athlete and you made it past Thursday alive, count yourself lucky following the deaths of chess champ Bobby Fisher, former Detroit Tiger John McHale,Sr. and former Philadelphia Phillie Steve Ridzik yesterday. Now you can add Ernie Holmes to the list after the former Steeler died in a car accident in Texas. He was only 59.
Holmes, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from his car after it rolled over several times near Lumberton, TX.
Holmes became a minister after his six year NFL career which included two All-Pro selections while a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also appeared in an episode of the "The A-Team."
It's been fun blogging with you,
Kate
