A rough day for the popo

Football Update:
40 million people watched the Giants beat NFC east rivals Dallas Cowboys 21-17 on Sunday.

Deion Branch will undergo knee surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Luckily, the Seahawks were bounced out of the playoffs on Saturday so Branch will have months to recooperate from the surgery.

Speaking of Seattle, Mike Holgren is deciding whether his future will include Seattle.

Coaching Round-up: The Titans have fired offesnive coordinator Norm Chow...The Bengals have hired defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer...The Dolphins are close to signing Dallas' assistant head coach Tony Sparano...The Ravens have reportedly offered their head coaching position to the Cowboys' offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

The New England Patriots will honor Anna Grant, a 14 year old high school freshman, during the Patriots AFC title game on Sunday. Baseball Update:
While Miguel Tejada could spend his time worrying about whether his work visa will be revoked because he possibly lied during congressional testimory, he probably is much more preocuppied with grief after his brother Freddy Manuel Tejada was killed in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday.

Congress is concentrating on steriods and HGH in baseball but maybe they should look at the skyrocketing usage of ADD and ADHD drugs which are given an "Therapeutic Use Exemption" by MLB.

The Seattle Mariners have signed Arthur Rhodes to a minor league contract and George Sherrill to a one year, $980,000 deal. He can earn up to $60,000 in performance bonuses.

The Tampa Bay Rays avoided arbitration by signing Dan Wheeler to a one year, $2,875,000 deal.

The Dodgers signed relief pitcher Yhency Brazoban to a one year, $540,000 contract to avoid arbitration.

If you actually want a piece of tanted history, then bid on Barry Bonds used items like the 754th home run ball or a bat used between homeruns Nos. 754 and 755. Just go to www.scpauctions.com to pad your collection.

Braves Update:
The Atlanta Braves are moving their triple-A affiliate Richmond Braves to suburban Atlanta. The newly named Gwinnet Braves will open up play in 2009 and will be only 36 miles from their Major Leauge counterpart.

Popo in my crib News:
Pacman Jones needs to go to the equivalent of AA for strip club addicts after news broke that a woman is seeking an arrest warrant, "claiming he punched her at an Atlanta strip club." To make matters worse, the woman, Wanda S. Jackson, is an attorney. Jones had been suspended by the League for the 2007 season after his mutliple run-ins with the popo culminating in a February shooting at a Las Vegas strip club. Geeze, maybe Jones should just have a pole installed in his home and hire some strippers, but knowing him, it will turn into another love boat incident. Watch out, Pacman, because the popo are on your tail!

Jacksonville Jaguars defesnive end Brent Hawkins was arrested and charged with DUI early Monday. Hawkins most likely was trying to forget the Jaguars beating on Saturday by drinking himself into oblivion, but unfortunately, he then chose to get into his 2007 Chevy Tahoe and drive 64 mph in a 45 mph zone and was pulled over by the popo. Hawkins kindly told the pop that this is his second DUI charge so he's not new to the situation. Watch out Brent, because the popo are on your tail!

Minor league pitcher Roman Colon pleaded no contest to assault stemming from a locker room fight in which he punched a teammate. Colon was with the Detroit Tigers at the time when he accidently punched pitcher Jason Karnuth who was attempting to break up the rucus. Karnuth suffered multiple broken bones in his face and missed much of the season due to his injuries. Colon was suspended by the Tigers before being shipped off to the Kansas City Royals. Colon was sentenced to 200 hours of community service. Watch out Roman, because the popo are on your tail!
