Two Cups of Coffee

Baseball Update:
Mariano Rivera gave up a single to Gabe Gross that drove in the winning run in the 11th to hand the Rays a 2-1 lead and a half game lead in the AL East.

The Yankees could also expect A-Rod's big fat bat back in the lineup by next Tuesday.

And Goose Goosage is not happy with Joba Chamberlian's fist pumping.

Onto non-Yankee news, the Mets topped the Nats 6-3 giving John Maine the win and his seventh straight game in which he allowed 2 or fewer runs in his start.

They also designated pitchers Nelson "softball lady" Figueroa and Jorge Sosa for assignment while placing Angel Pagan on the DL, activating Matt Wise added Claudio Vargas and bringing up Fernando Tatis. Got that? Yeah me neither!

The homerun apple (or the class project as I like to call it) will officially move to CitField.

The Mets also announced they'll start Johan Santana in the first game of the Subway Series. He'll be going up against the Yanks Darrell Rasner. I wonder who'll win that game.

Ok seriously onto non-Yankee news, the Pirates knocked in four runs in the 10th to beat the Cardinals 8-4. Wow, the Bucs are on quite a roll.

Meanwhile, the Cards are awaiting news regaurding Yadier Molina's little tantrum during the Cards/Brewers on Monday. Molina took off all of his gear and left in a pile as a protest to ball called on Milwaukee's Corey Hart. I think people should have just thrown down sunglasses, but that may have been to obvious.

Jayson Werth had me had me pulling out my hair on Tuesday by having a strong night at the plate (totally benched him on my fantasy team, why can't they just stop platooning him with Jenkins) in the Phillies 5-4 win over the Braves. Honestly, can the Braves just play at home?

Matt Cain had a banner night, he picked a homerun and the win in the Giants 4-2 defeat of the Astros.

Paul Byrd became the fourth straight Indians starter to shut out his opponent in the Tribe's 4-0 blanking of the A's.

The Orioles edged the Red Sox 5-4 on the heels of news that manager Terry Francona will miss the two game series to attend to a family matter.

Jeff Keppinger broke his left knee cap (ouch!) during the Reds 5-3 victory over the Marlins.

Shawn Estes picked up his first win since 2005 in the Padres 4-3 win over the Cubs.

In other Cubs news, they'll only be sold as a package with Wrigley Field after Sam Zell put the kibosh on a deal that would have sold the stadium to the state of Illinois.

Nascar Update:
As if I don't feel old enough when I look at Kyle Busch, David Regan or Reed Sorenson, news is flying that youngin' Joey Lagano is set to make his Nationwide Series debut at Dover later this month.

Chad McCumbee and Terry Labonte will fill in for Kyle Petty in the #45 Dodge while he walks his daughter down the aisle (congrats) and then doest the whole booth thing for TNT. So why was Kyle so upset when Petty Enterprises took him out of the #45. Seems to me, if they want to move forward and become a competitive team, they should keep Kyle out of the car full time and get a driver who in there that's only focus is winning races, not TV appearances and running a team and a major charity.

So the last time I checked Greg Biffle was all but locked up at Roush Fenway Racing. Now I read that he'd be a good choice to take over Tony Stewart's seat if Stewart chooses to depart Joe Gibbs Racing. I think he should stick with RFR and I think JGR can do a whole lot better.

Juan Pablo Montoya is going to compete in his first All-Star Race at Lowe's this weekend. Is he up for it? Click here to find out.

Speaking of the All-Star Race, click here to see if your favorite driver is on the list. And if not, click here to vote him in! (Admittedly, I voted for Kahne)

Popo in my crib News:
So any hope of getting back into baseball has officially been wipped away for Mr. Barry Bonds after his chargers were amended. Instead of just four counts, the former slugger is now looking at 14 which include lying to a federal grand jury. His next hearing is scheduled for June 6th. Watch out Barry, because the popo are on your tail!

Former Cowboys and Cardinals running back Troy Hambrick was sentenced to five years in jail for selling crack cocaine. Watch out Troy, because the popo are on your tail!
