March of the Penguins and Celtics

Baseball Update:
The Mets got the best of the Yankees in their two game series this weekend taking Sunday's game 11-2. Although it could have been worse for the Yankees if that fair 3 run shot by Carlos Delgado wasn't ruled a foul, which the umpire Bob Davidson has admitted to botching the call for.

Yankees Manager Joe Girardi told reporters that he may keep Joba in the bullpen for the rest of the season. At least Chamberlain and Mariano Rivera have stayed consistant for the team, but frankly no one else has.

The Red hot Indians and their unscorable pitching staff ran into another streaking team the Reds this weekend and got swept. Cliff Lee recorded his first loss of the season in the Tribes 6-4 defeat.

The Red Sox has a sweep of their own thanks to big Papi's two big blasts on Sunday in their 11-7 slugging of the Brewers.

Speaking of firsts, Rockies pitcher Jeff Francis finally picked up his first win in Colorado's 6-2 win over the Twins.

Jacques Jones who was recently dropped by the Tigers has landed with the Florida Marlins. His arrival could not come soon enough for the first place Marlins who dropped the series to the Royals with a 9-3 loss.

The Royals and Joakim Soria agreed to a three year extension worth $8.75 million. The deal includes three club options that could raise his paycheck to about $32.75 million.

The Tigers are still in the cellar and the Diamondbacks and still in first place after Randy Johnson notched 7 quality innings in Arizona's 4-0 blanking of Detroit. See and I was ready for Johnson to retire, but he's proving me wrong.

Skip Schumacher knocked in the winning run with a double in the ninth to propell the Cardinals passed the Rays 5-4. But not all was well in St. Louis after placing reliever Jason Isringhausen on the DL. He injured his hand striking a TV. That's it, new mandate in all clubhouses, padded walls for players to bang against as to avoid more stupid injuries!

I maybe a little biased, but I was thinking Chipper Jones would be the only player batting .400 but Lance Berkman's remarkable play is keeping him close to tying Jones. And his other stats aren't too bad either. So his 2-for-5 play on Sunday was almost like a downgrade, luckily his other teammates helped him out in the Astros 5-4 win over the Rangers.

Speaking of the Braves, they capped off their series with the A's with a 5-2 win. Although not all is well down in Atlanta, after news broke that they could be without John Smoltz for a lot longer than expected. Smoltzie felt shoulder discomfort after pitching bullpen sessions on Thursday and Saturday.

The Padres will be without Jake Peavy for at least one start due to elbow soreness. Speaking of sore, the Padres are probably not too happy after their bullpen gave up the game winning two run double by Jose Lopez in their 3-2 loss to the Mariners. Although, I think the Mariners like San Diego's bullpen. Maybe they should send them a fruit basket or something.

The Feds want to talk to 104 Major League Baseball Players that tested positive for steriods in 2003. I think that Mitchell Reporrt had a few wholes in it, eh?

Nascar Update:
The Stars shined bright in Charlotte on Saturday as Nascar's top players battled it out in the All-Star race. Kasey Kahne, who earned his spot by being voted in by the fans, came out on top. (More on the race to come)

Congrats to A.J. Allmendinger who got his first ever Cup Series win, albeit non-points paying, in the Sprint Showdown. He and Sam Hornish, Jr. were able to earn two out of the final three spots into the All-Star race.

Saturday's race marked Dale Jarrett's final time in a Sprint Cup car. He may have finished 21st, he did give fans quite a send off, pacing around Lowe's Motor Speedway in the UPS Truck.

Congrats to Brian Vicker's #83 Red Bull team on winning the Sprint Pit Crew Challenge. The crew earned $70,000 for their victory!

Greg Biffle remains focused on re-signing with Roush Racing while Dale Earnhardt, Jr. ponders owning his own Sprint Cup team.

Popo in my crib News:
So this probably wasn't a smart decision. Akron basketball player Rydell Brooks was arrested on Sunday after shooting at the popo during a foot chase. Brooks reportedly ran from a car and fired serval shots at the popo before being arrested. He now faces charges of attempted murder and felonious assualt charges. Watch out Rydell, because the popo are on your tail!

News&Notes: Sunday's game was pretty embarassing for the Flyers who not only fell to the Penguins 6-0 but were also elimated. Thus leaving him more time to plan and wedding and tan. White is a hard color to pull off when your pale. Oh wait, he's not wearing the dress. Nevermind!...Big Brown stands just one win away from the Triple Crown after winning the Preakness on Saturday...It was a good news, bad news type of day for A.J. Foyt, IV after bumping his way into the Indy 500 he followed that up with a fiery crash...More female firsts in motorsports as Melanie Troxel became the first woman to win in both nitro classes at the O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals!...Finally I do have to give a shout out to the alma mater, Congrats to the Ridgewood Boys Lacrosse team on winning the Bergen County Lacrosse title. They're next move will be to try to bring home the State Championship. Go Maroons!
