Sprint Cup All-Star Race

Winner: Kasey Kahne

Recap: Kasey Kahne was all about taking risks on Saturday night, what with his whole not being in the top two spots at the close of the Sprint Showdown and letting the fans vote him into the big boys race and then gambling by taking gas only during the pit stop between the third and fourth segment. Fortunately for him, his crew’s risk taking attitude worked out just fine after he captured his first ever All-Star race victory. Humpy Wheeler’s chosen driver, Carl Edwards faded to 10th after starting the race strong while engine failures put a damper on the entire Joe Gibbs Racing operation that saw Kyle Busch pace the first segment after he and his team captured the pole on Friday only to end the race early due to mechanical problems. Tony Stewart was the only JGR car to crack the top five. Instead the night belonged to Kahne who no longer has to worry about winning more races or fan votes, because with this All-Star race win, he’s got a seat in this exciting race for the next few years, oh and ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

Shout-outs: While finishing 21st doesn't normally get you a shout out, Dale Jarrett isn't your average Joe. Celebrating a great career, Dale Jarrett who race in his final Cup Series event ever on Saturday more than deserves a shout out or two. Jarrett wowed the crowd by pacing the first lap in a UPS truck but never really contended in the race. Too bad, it would have been nice to have seen him get the win, but he’s given fans enough memories for a life time.

Disappointments: Joe Gibbs Racing was stifled by mechanical problems that dropped both Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin from contention after the pair were able to pace some laps. Although Richard Childress Racing didn't have the most stellar night either.

Next Race: Coca-Cola 600, Sunday @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway
