The box of tissues edition

Sorry, I'm posting a little later than usual. I had to stop by the drug store to pick up a box of tissues, thanks to this never ending cold I've got going on here.

Baseball Update:
Chase Utley had six RBIs in the Phillies 20-5 drubbing of the Colorado Rockies. It just keeps getting worse for Colorado huh?

Bradon Webb went 9-0 to start the season, but it seems his account at the luck bank is down to zero after losing to the Marlins and Monday to the Braves. Webb allowed seven runs (4 earned) over just four and a third innings, while Mark Teixeira looks like he's finally over his early season struggles after knocking in four.

More good news for the Braves, Rafael Soriano and John Smoltz could be back in the bullpen by the end of the road trip.

The Rays are giving the Braves a run for their money in games played at home. Currently, the Braves hold the best home record winning 22 of 29 games played at the Ted. But Tampa with their 7-3 beating of the Rangers, they are now 20-8 in games played at Tropicana Field, including going 16-1 over the last 17 games.

The Yankees snapped a five game losing streak falling to the Orioles, 6-1. Good news or bad news (depending on where you stand on the great Joba debate), the Yankees are expecting to bring Chamberlain into the rotation after his next relief appearance on Wednesday.

The Mets will keep Willie Randolph on as Manager of the ballclub, but that vote of confidence was not enough to give the Mets a win, falling to the first place Marlins 7-3. The Mets have lost six of their last seven games.

Prince Fielder scored the go ahead run in the 11th to give the Brewers a 4-3 win over the Nationals. Ryan Zimmerman did not play on Monday due to a sore shoulder suffered on May 18th when he dove head first into second base against the Orioles. He will be re-evaluated in San Diego.

The White Sox rallied with 3 in the top of the 12th to prevail over the Indians 6-3.

The Angels edged the Tigers 1-0 in 12 innings. Now that's my kind of game.

The Blue Jays completed a four game sweep of the Royals with their 7-2 win on Monday.

The Cincinnati Reds are hoping to spark their offense by calling up high touted prospect Jay Bruce. Bruce was hitting .364 with 10 homeruns, 37 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 49 games with AAA Louisville.

Sad news, former major league pitcher Geremi Gonzalez was killed on Sunday when he was struck by lightning in his native Venezuela. Gonzalez was only 33.

Nascar Update:
Congrats to Truck Series rookie Donny Lia on winning the Ohio 250 on Saturday.

Both Haas CNC Racing's #66 driven by Scott Riggs and the #70 driven by Johnny Sauter were confiscated prior to the start of Sunday's race. The cars "ha manipulated rear-wing mounts on the deck lid, causing them to not fit properly in the inspection grid." Expect penalties to be handed out sometime this week.

Dario Franchitti is expected back in a Cup car on Tuesday, testing the #40 Chip Ganassi Dodge at Pocono. Franchitti has been on the sidelines since fracturing his ankle in a Nationwide Series race in Talladega.

Brian France isn't rushing to add Kentucky Speedway to the Cup Series schedule. I say, any place you can sellout is better than going to a major market *Fontana* and having loads of empty seats. Although, I'd understand wanting to add a track closer to New York or the in the Pacific Northwest, but as of right this very minute, there isn't a track in either of those locations ready to be added to the schedule, so it's a moot point.

Popo in my crib News:
Following his season in Chicago and this incident, I think it's safe to say, Bulls forward Joakim Noah probably should have stayed at the University of Florida for another season. Noah was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and having an open container of alcohol after a Gainesvill popo spotted Noah walking on the sidewalk holding a plastic cup filled with an amber drink. After a seach at the popo station, the popo found marijuana in his pocket. Goodness, walking around with an open contianer, what is this Laguna Beach. Because they classed things up when they made it to The Hills. Watch out Joakim, because the popo are on your tail!

News&Notes: The Penguins have failed to score one goal against the Red Wings in their first two games of the Stanley Cup finals falling to Detroit 3-0 on Monday. Pittsburgh is heading home for the next two games, where they have gone undefeated in the playoffs...Detroit tied the series at 2 with their 94-75 win over the Celtics...In a recent interview, Titans QB Vince Young admitted he almost quit after his rookie season in the NFL. I can understand that, you go from king of Austin who can do no wrong to an overly scruntized pro-QB it could play with any kid's head...Congrats to Syracuse on winning their 10th Lacrosse Championship...Congrats to Scott Dixon on winning his first Indy 500. Could this mean he's ready to win his first IndyCar Championship since 2003? I hope so!
