Baseball Update:
Are the Yankees panicking? Seems so when co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner flipped saying Joba Chamberlain should be starting RIGHT NOW! Yeah, so Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes aren't doing as well as expected, but their practically kids, give them time and they'll get better. Or just buy some good players from the Royals or something.
The Yankees did beat the Orioles 7-1 avoiding a sweep by Baltimore. But ARod left the game early with a quad injury.
The Bombers will also be without reliever Kyle Farnsworth who was supsended by Major League Baseball for three games after throwing behind Manny Ramirez in the Yanks win over Boston on Thursday.
The Braves pulled off a sweep of their own with a 6-1 victory over the Dodgers. But like the Yankees, the Braves lost their third baseman Chipper Jones with a right quad injury.
The Phillies held off a sweep by the Mets with their 5-4 victory. Chase Utley (2) and Pedro Feliz drove in all five runs with homers.
The Phillies did put 2007 MVP Jimmy Rollins on the DL with an ankle injury. Rollins had not started a game in 10 trys but was used as a pinch hitter on Saturday, so the Phils could not place him retroactively to the date of his injury.
Both the Twins and Reds needed an extra inning to win their respective games over the Indians and Brewers.
The San Diego Padres batted around Randy Johnson and the Arizona Diamondbacks for a 9-4 win.
The Astros placed ace Wandy Rodriguez on the DL with a groin injury. Too bad because he was one of the few bright spots on my fantasy team.
The Royals cut Hideo Nomo while the Blue Jays said goodbye to Frank Thomas.
The Rays signed super prospect Evan Longoria to a six year deal worth $17.5 million after only six days in the Majors. The deal could be worth up to $44 million and includes three option years for Tampa Bay.
Shoeless Joe Jackson's signature "Black Betsy" game bat could sell between $200,000-$300,000 at a Sotheby's and SCP Auction.
Sad news, former Mariners catcher John Marzano died on Saturday after falling down a flight of stairs. He was only 45.
Nascar Update:
Congratulations to Kyle Busch on winning his third straight Nationwide Series race on Sunday.
Boris Said is probably not going to be sending Marcus Ambrose a Christmas card this year.
Nascar will integrate the COT into the Nationwide Series mid-2009. Great so we'll have to series for drivers to complain about.
Kenny Schrader will be back in a Cup car this weekend in Talladega after announcing he'll be racing in the Haas CNC Racing #70.
Chrissy Wallace has signed a deal with Germain Racing which will put her in the Rookie of the Year hunt in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2009. She'll also run six races for the team this season.
Shocking news, Sam Hornish, Jr. will not race in the Indy 500. When I say shocking I mean painfully predictable. And too bad, because I miss seeing Hornish actually succeeding in racing.
