I'm Back!

Baseball Update:
There were some last inning heroics on Monday with Torii Hunter's walk off grand slam that propelled the Angels over the Indians 6-4...Miguel Tejada knocked in a two run homerun to give the Astros a 5-3 win over the Cardinals...And Aramis Ramirez hit a sac fly in the 12th to help score the go ahead run in the Cubs 10-8 win over the Bucs.

They started out undefeated taking out the Braves and the Phillies, but since opening 3-0, the Nats have faded losing their fifth straight, falling to the Marlins 10-7.

I know it's early but it's still weird to see the Orioles on to of the AL East especially after sweeping the Mariners with a 5-4 win.

The Diamondbacks have signed centerfielder Chris Young to a five year deal that would net him a reported $31 million. Not bad, I guess I'd take it.

The D-Backs also torched the Dodgers, 9-3.

Derek Jeter left in the third inning of the Yankees 6-1 win over the Rays. Jeter is not expected to go on the DL with his quad injury.

Bartolo Colon's return to the Majors will be put on hold after being placed on the seven day DL.

Nascar Update:
Congrats to Carl Edwards for winning at Texas on Sunday. And bonus, so far there have been no reports of a doctored car so he can actually keep the win!

Ryan Newman's car failed post-race inspection after coming in fourth on Sunday. The No. 12 car's right rear-side did not meet the height sticks.

The COT cars are garnering more complaints from drivers. So if it's not the tires, it's the cars. If it's not the cars it's the track. If it's not the track it's the lack of good eats at the infield deli. I understand that there are times when everything isn't the way you want it to be, but sometimes you just have to shut your mouth and smile.

Think that Kyle Petty decided to step out of the #45 car at Texas this weekend? Think again!

Speaking of pissed off people, Chip Ganassi was poed after Dario Franchitti's car failed to qualify for Sunday's race at Texas Motor Speedway. I'm sorry, but how can you be surprised that a guy that barely has any stock car experience is sitting on the wrong side of the top 35? No offense to Franchitti, but he needed a lot more experience before throwing him into the Cup Series. I would say lesson learned, but everyone seems to be failing that class.

Johnny Sauter will be taking over the driving reigns of the #70 car in the Cup Series from Jeremy Mayfield this weekend.

Greg Biffle doesn't think he'll be leaving Roush Fenway to head to RCR. Just think a year ago, he would have been on the next train out, but because he doesn't feel like he's getting the crappy equipment (which must be heading McMurray's way) he's thinking about staying. What will he say next year when he returns to relative obscurity?

Cottonelle wants to Nascar to introduce their own version of the seventh inning stretch with the introduction of the Lap 100 stretch. While a fun idea, if you've ever been to a Nascar race, you'd know that people don't spend a whole lot of time sitting in their seat. Plus, would the pit road crews do the YMCA while pulling their equipment around the box? Or would the crew chiefs have to do a dance on the pit box? What if they had a Carl Edwards knock off that could do back flips off the pit wall. Ok, I'm totally behind this initiative.

Popo in my crib News:
Newly signed Brave Scott Spiezio pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drunken driving and a hit-and-run charge on Monday. The plea stems from a December car crash in Orange County, CA. As part of his plea agreement, Scott must serve three years probation, undergo a three-month alcohol program, attend two AA meetings and serve 80 hours of community service. But can he leave the state? Watch out Scott, because the popo are on your tail!

A Johnnie Wayne Murrah was charged with theft under $100 after allegedly stealing a Dale Earnhardt, Jr. cardboard cutout from a Wawa in Maryland. The cutout was being used to promote Junior's new candy bar. The cutout was returned and will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to charity. I would ask how much that thing could be sold for especially since there was no mention that the cut out was autographed, but I bet some die-hard Earnhardt fans would probably over pay for it. Watch out Johnnie, because the popo are on your tail!
