Eerie start to the day

Baseball Update:
The Tigers have finally gotten their first win of the season, taking out the Red Sox 7-2...AndMike Lowell left the game in the second inning with an injured thumb. He will be listed as day-to-day.

The Diamondbacks cruising to their six straight win by sweeping the Dodgers with a 4-3.

Felix Pie ended the never ending game for the Cubs with a two-run single in the 15th inning to defeat the Pirates 6-4.

It was a rough and tumble day for Albert Pujols after he and Astro Brandon Backe had a heated argument during batting practice on Wednesday. But Pujols must had invisioned the ball as Backe's head because he blasted two homeruns during the Cardinals 6-4 victory.

It felt like a minor league game watching the Phillies commit four errors and Kyle Kendrick walk practically ever batter he faced during their 8-2 loss to the Mets.

But unfortunatley for the Mets it looks like El Duque will be out indefinately...however they are looking to sign Claudio Vargas, who was dropped by the Brewers in March, to the rotation.

David Ortmeier's two out RBI double in the ninth inning gave the Giants a 1-0 win over the Padres. Now that's what I call a good game!

After an erradict start, the Twins are mulling over the idea of calling up Francisco Liriano. I say give him another minor league start and then bring him up.

Add Cliff Floyd to the growing number of Rays players on the DL. Floyd will be out for 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

The Braves placed closer Rafael Soriano on the 15 day DL. So much for the airtight bullpen.

Without Ozzie Guillen where would I be. I would be screwed. Because he always has the best sound bites, like the one where he said umpire Phil Cuzzi has it out for him. "I don't like that guy behind the plate. Every time he's behind the plate, we might have a problem." Now there's the Ozzie I love!

Lucky for Braves prospect Jordan Schafer the new MLB Department of Investigations works, because that's how they discovered Schafer's HGH use, not by him testing positive for the drug.

A new agreement between the Players Union and Owners over a tougher drug policy maybe near after MLB put Jose Guillen's 15 day suspension on hold. Under the agreement, individuals implicated in the Mitchell Report would be given amnesity.

Nascar Update:
Sad news, one of Nascar's few female inspectors, Brienne Davis, was killed in a car accident on Tuesday night. She was just 28 years old.

Tony Stewart says he's happy being out of the Nascar glare. I on the other hand am not. I miss crazy Tony and his intimidating ways. Bring back crazy Tony! (And when I say crazy, I mean impassioned with a dash of witty banter and a side of slight physical violence.)

Even though they are no preforming up to his standards, Chip Ganassi is not ready to fire anyone...yet!

Jeff Moorad owner of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the #96 Hall of Fame Racing Toyota is doing his best to bring Nascar and baseball together, especially this weekend when Nascar hits Phoenix International Raceway.

International Speedway Corp is expecting limp ticket sales for 2008 after Martinsville failed to sell the expected amount of tickets. Gee, I can't understand why. Recession not withstanding, how about the lack luster racing and constant complaints of the drivers about the equipment, or the erradict penalties given to drivers, crew chiefs and owners. I mean wouldn't that make you want to run out and spend $75 on a ticket to a race?

Rumors are running rampant that Firestone is looking to get into Nascar. Maybe then we can get rid of this tire problem Nascar's experiencing.
