Baseball Update:
After a marathon game on Sunday which went 17 innings resulting in a win for the Braves, they promptly were one hit by the Dodgers' Hiroki Kuroda, in a 3-0 loss.

The Mets found a way to make a 10-1 lead interesting, giving up seven runs to the Phillies in the final three innings, but in the end, Billy Wagner was able to hold onto a scant 1 run lead in New York's 10-9 victory.

Manny Ramirez came threw in the clutch hitting a one run single in the eighth which proved to be the difference maker in the Red Sox 1-0 defeat of the Twins. David Ortiz took batting practice for the first time since hitting the DL on May 31st, while the team sent Justin Masterson down to the minors to become a reliever. The team is expecting to call up Clay Buchholz.

The Rays snapped a seven game winning streak, falling to the Royals, 7-4 (10). Kansas City busted out four runs in the 10th in the win.

After the Padres 3-1 loss to the Marlins, ace Greg Maddux has now lost his last 11 starts.

After announcing C.C. Sabathia as a member of their team, the Brewers fell to the Rockies, 4-3. Sabathia is expected to start for his new club on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Brewers starter Jeff Suppan hit the DL to make room for the Sabathia addition.

Torii Hunter hit two homeruns, while Francisco Rodriguez picked up his league best 35th save in the Angels 9-6 victory over the Rangers.

CBS Sports is giving you their 25 new baseball rules. Click here to find out what made the list.

Nascar Update:
Nascar is finally starting to feel the economic pinch and it's not just because of escalating gas prices.

Tony Stewart's illness that forced him out of the Coke Zero 400 almost half way through the race has been bothering him for the past few weeks. Get better smoke!

Popo in my crib News:
Robert Correia, a Red Sox fan, allegedly beat up a William Nestor with a baseball bat because he thought he was a Yankees fan. Turns out Nestor is not a big baseball fan, but happened to be in the wrong place with the wrong license plates. Save your stupid rivalry banter for actual baseball games and maybe a bar, but on the street after a fireworks display, goodness that's lame. Watch out Correia, because the popo are on your tail!

News&Notes: I know that I sometimes concentrate on the negative (arrests...) but I did want to point out a nice athlete story. A man is claiming Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez saved his life when Gonzalez gave the man the Heimlich maneuver...Dan Patrick and Keith Oberman will be reuinted on NBC's Sunday night football coverage....The new look Oklahoma City NBA team took the court in new unis...While it hasn't been announced, Wrigley Field will most likely host the 2009 Winter Classic. But the league, who tried to close out Yankee Stadium with the 2009 Classic, still has hopes for a New York version, possibly at the New Yankee Stadium in 2010...Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo may want to go to Real Madrid, but he not likely to be moving anytime soon.

Check this out: Mad Men on of the best shows to come of summer 07 will be back later this month, but for those die hards out there, here's an opportunity to win a walk on role in season 3. Click here for more details.

It's been fun blogging with you,
